When I saw the title, I thought this was brilliant! But I thought they meant a "drone" more like these: https://www.starship.xyz/ . (Turns out google responds better to searching for robots when looking those up).

That makes sense. It would seem one way to protect the contracted company would be the right to withhold releasing the source code until the terms of the contract were met. You may not want to fight that legal battle, but at least it would

Can somebody with knowledge about how those contracts are set up comment on what happens to the IP developed by Star Theory? I understand they were contracted to build KSP2, but when "the project was pulled" by Take Two who owns

I would echo the sibling comment (save_ferris) that in many places open offices do not encourage sunlight - especially those places where the offices are on the outer perimeter (capturing the sunlight) and the interior is stuck with fluores

Random side-comment - high school is probably the time to do it too. I'm in the middle of teaching my kids how to read/write (the older one) and recognize letters (younger one). I reflexively crossed the "z" when writi

I can’t fly without thinking of Weird Al’s lyrics of “I got my tray table up, and my seat-back in the full upright position.” It has been well over a decade since I’ve actually heard the song, though. His lyrics have a weird staying-power

My apologies that this isn’t quite what you are looking for, but reading your question reminded me of a previous discussion about using Facebook chat logs to create a chatbot where you can talk to yourself [1]. Since Twitter data typically

I have been mostly remote for the last 2 years and couldn't agree more. I would emphasize the point in the first paragraph - not only is it harder to find a remote job when just starting out, but you would also be doing yourself a dis

I was in basic training when hurricane Katrina hit. I remember the drill instructors asking if anyone was from the Louisiana or surrounding states and they got to make a special call home. Not having any connnections there myself I didn’t

For some people maybe not. A video would be far more stressful for me. I'm sure my voice would be up an octave (along with my blood pressure) trying to get the recording just right. Speaking aloud is also not my forte. One benefit o

Also other trends that, thankfully in my experience, have not yet made their way to tech. I suspect it is only a matter of time, though... A lot of non-technical positions I have seen and heard about (including non entry-level positions) r

Most systems seem to ask others to rate what they consume - up/down, like/dislike, etc. If we’re talking about content that competes for eyeballs, like a news feed, you might add the concept of having a person “stake” some of thei

I think being a musician and programmer both require practice. As a musician, I would practice a lot of mechanics - producing the desired sound in a specific way every time. When practicing programming, I personally (and suspect most) wou

On the flip side, I had the pleasure of working with a fantastic HR recruiter at my previous company. He would do a ton of legwork to ensure applicants had the basic level of skills and, frankly, common sense. For one position we were hirin
