Right - so ~25% of excess deaths in April in the United States were not directly caused by COVID-19, but were almost certainly indirectly caused by the virus, either via the 'medical care chilling effect' mentioned above, or throu

According to this New York Times article from the beginning of May, excess deaths in the United States outpaced official Coronavirus reporting by 33%. This obviously varies significantly by country. Certainly many more people are dying at

Your view of Taiwan's government is somewhat outdated. The KMT party (which once ruled China, and for decades ruled Taiwan) has suffered a series of overwhelming electoral defeats, and the now-ruling DPP party has a platform of "

It's a really clever design, especially that gyroscopic 'impulse' mechanism, but it was never used in battle. The competing Whitehead torpedo, which had an onboard engine, was the one that navies adopted. https://

It's really the conversion to weight (grams, from cups/tbsp/tsp/hogsheads) that would be valuable. It's just so much easier to clean to stick a scale under the mixing bowl.

SQL is indeed pretty crufty. After all, it dates back to the 70's, and is generally regarded as an 'entry level' language for analysts. It's nowhere near as crazy as Javascript (and, arguably, Ruby): https://

Hospitals do seem to graciously accept donations, even opened (half-used) boxes of masks. You can just drive up and hand them off. Second-tier healthcare facilities, such as elder care centers and rural clinics, are also desperate for PPE
