Salary is an important factor too. In the last couple years, I’ve jumped from two startups to big tech, making 130k, 170k, and now over 300k. I think getting a job again at the former two salary points would be easy but not my current one a

Part of the problem with venture funding is 10m arr wouldn't be considered enough.

Perhaps the simplest explanation is these kinds of articles get lots of clicks and views, I doubt most writers have a big agenda when starting an article like this.

Where do you address the fact that npr says that “stable” funding represents only 1% of total funding?

That's not an accurate analogy if what you're saying the $1k/month is your entire pay. More accurate would be saying I make a $100k/month of which $1k comes for a certain source, and then me saying that thousand is essen

That in my opinion would be a horrible idea for property taxes which are an important part of local and state taxes. According to this source[0] property taxes make up more than 30% of a state’s revenue, so having reliable constant revenue

> Hardships like taxing illiquid stock is the main reason for only taxing _realized gains_. This seems like an over simplification which ignores people’s abilities to still draw cash on their illiquid stock. It’s not hard to imagine that

The number of engineers isn’t the limiting factor competing against google, it’s the innovation/talent. While most engineers even at google aren’t working on hard problems, there’s a few who’re solving distributed computing/gfs&#x

So what race do you think is appropriate? Only white males as they’re least shackled by society?

Even that wouldn’t explain google and meta as the founders own over 50% of voting shares.

So much for the no-code space. 4 weeks severance is awful for a $2b unicorn and in light of what all other companies are giving lately. Wish for the best to those affected.

Nothing wrong with us, we rock :). I guess I’ve heard comments about our wealth inequality, gentrification, and mobility that not all careers have but there’s no easy solve.

I agree with you in spirit but I’ve found as I’ve gotten older, I actually have more fun doing things with people whose life views I agree with. It’s hard to bury feelings if someone else is against immigrants (my parents are one), are agai

Right, but I guess the presumption is you’re the arbiter of what shit is worth leaving at home versus not. I assume if a known pedophile came to a party, others might say something and you’d be okay with that. Not trying to raise a big poin

I don’t understand why should people “leave that shit at home”? I’m not defending the parent example of a friend being progressive and criticizing others while engaging in similar wasteful behavior, but if you really believe in something, d

I think a problem with this approach is you rid yourself of all small landlords and move towards corporate owned housing. Only those with a large portfolio of homes can afford the statistical averages you’re talking about.

That's true but there's some missing attraction that's present in fast-growing startups but not here - there's little room for big stock / options growth (unless Musk provides options at less than the $44b price, or

Dedicated qa doesn't absolve the responsibility of code reviewers which devs absolutely need to be involved with. Code review is as much about functionality as it is about code design and extensibility.

Legally I have had one employer contract call out that they expect you to work for certain hours, but that was a Canadian startup; none of the American companies have had that I remember. Ethically though, I don't feel this way at all.

If it's as you say systemic that boys do worse at classwork, then continuing to use that (a la GPAs) as an admissions criteria _is_ sexist. It would be akin to having a pull-up competition determining admissions knowing full well boys
