Yeah, definitely only need a single drive NAS. What I meant was that a Synology or similar product would not really be what I'm looking for, not because it's not nice, but because AFAIK it's meant to be on all the time, which

Yeah, that's my biggest gripe with this. Even though $10/mo is expensive for my usage, I was also very happy due to the GPs points. However not allowing a local backup is a non-starter for me. For cloud backups I already use tarsn

How can a restaurant have such service (limo from- and to- home??) and have bad food? I mean, I can imagine the food being "just good" (not great). But sucky food? With such a great wine list? Something sounds terribly off with th

Awesome resources. Thanks a lot! I'll have to check them out and study up a bunch of stuff it seems.

This is what I was thinking. I.e. that it would be very complicated. I wasn't even sure if it made sense to ask such a question. I have so much to read now...

Thanks to everyone for their explanations! It took me a while to read them all and not sure I do understand them all. It's amazing how complicated can physics stuff get. I'll be sure to check all the linked resources. Thanks again

This might be a naive question, but I'd like to clear it out. Do gravitational waves travel at the speed of light? I know the theory says nothing can travel faster than light. I also know that photons can be seen as quanta or as waves.

Maybe a bit off-topic, but not so much IMO. Everyone talks about react, angular and vue.js. How about Polymer? What are your experiences with it, if any? I'm no expert in either technology, but Polymer seems much more lean, needs no bu

I was not aware of that and it does sound like a solution. However I'd love to have a hardware device that I don't need an app to use. To load the keys and configure it I have no problem with, but to actually read the TOTP it woul

Yeah, there are definitely workarounds, but I'd rather have a hardware device than a phone, in particular so I don't have to ask employees/administrators to load stuff on their phones.

What I'd like to have is a TOTP hardware device that can store multiple keys. Even though U2F is much more secure, it seems like the adoption is a bit slow, unlike TOTP which is broadly supported in my opinion. However using TOTP with

HN's downvote mechanism is a funny one. As far as I know there's no clear meaning to what a downvote means and it seems like everyone has their own definition. For some, downvoting is a way of "flagging" out of place com

Oh wow...dayum. I knew that Springfield was used for the Simpsons town because there we so many that used that name, but I thought it was just an oddity or something. I guess I was indeed in for a surprise! Thanks for the link!

Agreed that it's not too bad because as you say, only a few topics warrant such a reaction. Unfortunately... it seems like, as time passes by, more and more subjects require such careful treatment. I absolutely hate it...

Not the OP, but more and more it seems that if you are not 100% unequivocally clear, someone will attack you as if you agreed with a polemical point. I think this is in part due to the "chilling effect". I've been there mysel

Awesome game! I'm guessing game theorists have these kind of tools, albeit more complex ones. DO you know of any of them? I'm sure this has been studied a lot so I'm guessing there are graphs about the different rules and out
