My indie band's self-produced CD cost us only $16K in 2001 (we were signed to a small label), but to be completely candid, we cut corners all over the place: 1) We dropped two tracks because the live lay down (which we used as the base for

"A service like foursquare can be useful to different people in different ways." Which indicates that their focus is too broad to capture a critical mass of users that use it in the same way. I don't think a pivot is necessary, just a focu

As someone who was limited to 300 baud for learning UNIX and C, I actually preferred Joy's ex over vi. I found that I could type ahead very quickly and just let the edits scroll in as they were echoed from the mainframe. Watching the edit

I think you may be missing the forest for the trees. My personal insight from psychedelics was that what I perceived as "reality" was simply wetware converting signals from my senses into perception. When something changes that perception

The problem for big (and small) media is that hype (and its counterpart FUD) drives page views. Even good writers are more apt to fall for the "big" story even if they know it sounds fishy. Wishful thinking and greed (for clicks) leads to

Actually, I expect every Color pivot (including this one) to be a trojan horse to execute the original big idea. The invite mechanism via FB is still "take a picture" and post to FB, so the implicit network is still being built. The truth
