What tech interns do at trading companies, especially JS, always amazes me. Not because of the complexity of the problem domain but rather the rigor of the solution. Something like Tristan Hume's famous blog post [0] on Tree Diffing wo

Airbnb is ~$40 an hour but they have unlimited overtime. From what I've heard Apple starts at $38 an hour. FB isn't hourly, it's $8k a month. Amazon is $7.725k a month or $7.2k if you take corporate housing. It's more in

It’s honestly really funny how a lot of people, even the folks on HN, have no idea how the elites live and how much better their lives are than the rest of us. People that work at JS (and 5R and 2S and to a lesser extent FB and Google) have

Probably both. I"m just angry that I had to work hard for [relatively] little when I could have just done nothing for 4 years and been in the same spot or better.

The idea that college is a place to find yourself is mostly a statement of immense privilege. I grew up upper middle class (professional parents with masters) and I didn’t spend a moment in college finding myself, I spent most of it working

Usually blogs are for public consumption. OP ends it with a recommendation for everyone. It’s still incredibly elitist.

Yeah, I agree. For such petty first world complaints especially - idk how long OPs tenure was but considering stock appreciation and how quickly they can get promoted she was probably pulling down $350k+ yearly and that’s being conservative

I'm of two minds on this. 1) There's no obligation for anybody to integrate with the community around them and forcing them to is absurd, especially with the bigger problems San Francisco faces 2) I fucking hate the people that ge
