I read this a little while ago (maybe on HN?) and I think that it is pretty spot-on, and applies not just to founders but to others as well! This said, the one thing I do really like out of some of these books are stories ABOUT founders, th

The fact that the internet functions as an extension of offline social space (see here: danah boyd's work on the subject) doesn't mean that the internet isn't hugely important in shaping a lot of how young people are growing up. There can b

Bigger problem with the cannibalism: so much of the human livestock around would be poorly fed. Just as corn-fed cattle are less healthy than their grass fed brethren, so too would the many unhealthy humans around provide for poor meals, I

1x is fair as long as everyone knows what's going on and what is expected. Especially for later investments, when less risk might be expected. I don't know how common higher preferences are, but they often seem... more unsavory, shall we sa

I really really like it. I also have scary thoughts thinking about how an innocent robotics company can end up like iRobot... not that that's such a bad thing of itself :) Roombas and military killing machines, woo.

Probably true. I wonder sometimes what kind of subtle cracks it may expose in the cult of Apple, but they do seem to have weathered the storm well. Just a minor drizzle, I guess.

For me the real issue with the Antenna4 issue is not to say that Apple makes bad products. It was an example of Apple treating its customers badly. That's different, and not something addressed by Woz. "You're holding it wrong" is not a res

This is really interesting. For those intrigued, there is a business here. I have a friend working at a fincial services firm [willing to pay $$$$$] finathat really wanted a feature for an internal intranet where they would be easily able t

Interesting points even if we don't agree with all of them - most of all, for the importance of a) not typecasting everyone with a particular piece of paper and b) emphasizing the best things that business-y people could bring to the table.

Definitely. I would invite friends, they'd be excited, but no one would check it and thus no one would use it, since there was no way to integrate it with anything non-wave. I'm fairly confused about what 'success' is supposed to have meant

I mean, it should have a big "Thank you, Philip K Dick" in the credits, too. That would be nice - movies with acknowledgements? Honestly, it's not a direct remake or sequel to anything, and that's enough for me to give major points to origi

Har har, nice try Steve. In seriousness, I find this a curious thought experiment too. Obviously, minimum salary at first makes perfect sense. But let's say that there is a successful business with good cash flow -- what then? One doesn't w
