Per usual the top comment on anything AI related is snark on "it can't to [random specific thing] well yet".

I don't understand this type of advice. Is it 1.05 or 1.2? How much more for evaporation? This isn't even close to fool proof. The pot and lid influence the ratio: https://youtube.com/watch?v=DJFU7ezipbg

Your argument is incorrect in regards to many of these social networks. Wanna be a photographer? You must have an Instagram account. Want to talk to some government services? You must use WhatsApp. Want to sell something used? You must have

Their post on Polygonal Map Generation for Games [1], from 2010, got me into procedural generation in general. [1] http://www-cs-students.stanford.edu/~amitp/game-programming/...

This one is not on the list and it's my favourite. Not the most well-produced of the bunch, but it captured a mood that I didn't find in any of the others. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n-V8x0hQXA4

Heard exactly that, including the Leipzig part, every year for the 5 years I lived there 10 years ago. Berlin is the biggest city in continental Europe, there's a lot of everything and there'll always be hidden little nooks.

You think that 8 extra hours would be the solution for humans to compete with machines and automation?

Your point has truth in it of course, but the main theme gp was pointing out is the hubris of people, often in our field, to think that they know better than someone specialised on a given field.

Why don't you support it? There are government services that use whatsapp in my country. This argument "just don't use it" is very tired. Interoperability can be achieved with E2E encryption.

I was recently on a kafkaesque chat with uber's AI customer service, and I gotta say I've never been so angry at a machine in my life. It felt insane to try and convince their embarrassment of an implementation to escalate to a hu

I have no idea what you're talking about in your first paragraph. I've put code in production in half a dozen languages, and ruby is, by a immense marging, the biggest offender on this. The only thing that comes close would be AOP

I disagree with your comment. When I read the GP I thought "oh that's cool", without thinking. Then parent's reply brought the reality of the situation back to me (that it's more complicated).

TypeScript's type system is, and it will always be, unsound by design [1]. Working with these constraints and still being able to deliver what they did is nothing short of incredible. They had the maturity and experience to ship someth

Jose Valim is one of the few people in the industry that I trust to implement a type system correctly. The other one is Anders Hejlsberg.

It's a little more than that. Some people feel that XML is great to represent nested structures/trees, and that trying to do that with code is less readable.
