No more or less polite than with humans. Less polite with chatgpt than clause because I much prefer Claude’s personality. Chatgpt is quite rude/stupid so I find myself being a little more abrupt and then having to apologise.

A mayor… but one who didn’t win a vote for the job, has no term limit, won’t leave the mayoral mansion, and has started a war with his constituents.

I have no idea what this is meant to do. Is it some sort of device that scans the text in physical books and then create AI cliff notes? Because if so, I imagine they will be sued out of existence by publishers pretty fast.

Often because they have paid for it via pacer so don’t want to give it away to competitors for free. Or because they’ve got it via a back door and don’t want to link to it and reveal that.

not to be THAT NERD but in the UK at least, the financial year (April 6th - April 5th) was aligned with the start of the new year which was March 25th. The old financial year started on 25th March, which was also new year's day (and al

I think you’ve missed the point. This isn’t actually meant to be useful. It’s commentary on the inane nature of corporate milestones.

Love this. However, when I got a high score I appeared twice on the leader board for some reason. Another time I appeared just as “name” and my high score which would have put me at #1 at that point (12090!) didn’t get entered at all. I als

That’s called consultancy and you can bill chunky rates by the hour. You should be rubbing your hands with glee! And then work out how to do code review and fixing using AI, lightly supervised by you so that you can do it all whilst walking

For a long time I used a recording I made of an old BT Tribune phone. Not my recording but you can hear the same phone here: https://youtu.be/XczrL9Kk6r4?start=207 I’m pretty deaf and could hear this anywhere. Plus it meant

"Getting eaten by a whale" is a pretty long standing hoax topic it seems. James Bartley being just one example. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/James_Bartley

To be fair, being eaten by a whale is a pretty old sea-based-fear. I think Jonah was knocking around the place around 2800 years ago...

I love this and it’s great - but really it is somewhat tangentially based on a short excerpt of five or six bars borrowed from the theme. But, equally, that’s true of a lot of music.

A lot of that music is now payola, placed into those "organic" autoplays via Spotify Discovery Mode, which requires artists and labels to take a 30% discount on royalty rates for their music to be played in this context.

That’s an interesting point that I’d not considered. You’re essentially saying “code for code’s sake”, or “writing code in order to achieve a personal rather than industrial objective”, right? By which I guess we are talking “personal code

I understand what you’re saying but while artisan printing and calligraphy are visible articulations of the craft, skill, care and attention that go into their making, do you think the same can be said for “artisan, human-crafted code”? It’

It takes a very greedy approach to screen real estate for no benefit. I don’t like it for that reason. I also apparently can’t scroll on safari ios. (iPad mini using safari on iPadOS 16.1) I can’t click on a username - it opens the post. So

The battery isn’t for incidental power outages. It’s for when a fire starts somewhere in the building while you are asleep and melts some wiring, knocking out the power to the smoke alarm. An hour later you wake up in a house full of smoke

Agree on the point you make about Open AI behaving more like a consumer facing company while Anthropic seems more geared to enterprise. This is exactly what I’ve been feeling for the past six months or so, and I’m getting far more value fro
