I recall the waiting times for Battlegrounds being so long (sometimes an hour and a half...) that there was constant battle around the barrens, stone talon, and ashenvale. Back then you actually had to show up to warsong gultch to get into

I don't think "power fantasy" is central at all to the appeal of videogames. Rather, the things that can really easily be modeled by computers happen to be... casting rays from point a to point b, changing an objects position

Ignoring things like democracy, capitalism, socialism, "communism", etc for the moment. China is an ethnostate. Unless you are Han Chinese you will never ever be represented by the Chinese government.

I'd pay for a good school shooter game. Pico's School was the game that practically put newgrounds on the map. One of the most popular Starcraft UMS RPG's was Highschool RPG, the school shooter was a popular character.

+1, maybe it is because I'm not programming the most complicated things in the world, but almost all of my data structures are fixed size arrays (or are stored in them). In my experience, dynamic memory management simply isn't nee

How dumb of an idea is it to attach the camera/lidar/what have you to a 2 axis rail and move it around at a high speed to introduce some parallax movement to the scene?

It also isn't so well determined that authoritarianism and democracy are so opposite... Part of the idea of two houses was to limit what was seen as the eventual authoritarian endgame of unfettered democracy. Liberal democracy is liber

Very cool. Do you know if you can "mark" spaces in time to jump back to like you can spatially in vim? Sometimes I change a bunch of random stuff at once to try and get something to work, and perhaps this use case would be better

"kicking" is an interesting euphemism. Even if it were true that fascism "kicked" downwards and socialism "kicked" upwards, what the egregious socialist and fascist governments of the 20th century did wasn'

Yep, always funny when protesters think they are somehow rebelling against the interests of power. Protest is primarily an expression of power. Once I understood this things made a lot more sense. The authentic protest is almost always met

I think body language might be more important, and seems to me should be harder to detect. Eye's are pretty easy to detect because of the contrast between the whites and iris, and, of course they reflect light. Detecting the difference
