I really don't think so. Sure, the thing about options and vesting becomes a win. But, in order to realize that win, you have to join an early, early stage startup, and slog through it for a number of years, hoping it succeeds. All the

Why do you need your own coin? What value would your own coin bring to anyone else?

While it might be a decent idea to offer it as an option, most people/businesses don't have any cryptocurrency, and have no interest in it.

So one instance. Yes, it's not going to be 100% retention. Nothing ever will be, unless you decide to bring back slavery. I asked how often does it happen. I can almost guarantee you that the retention rate of developers who feel they&

Yes. It's called an investment. I don't see it as being that different from companies expecting an employee to be doing the work of the next level for a while before they get the promotion/raise of that level.

I don't think so. How many people do you know who feel they are being treated well leave their companies?

I think it's more that, the companies are the ones complaining, so if they're not willing to be part of the solution, then we don't care about their problems. If they don't want to train, then that's fine, but then

If they're that driven by fear, they do not deserve to be in that position. And if they're that afraid of it, it's probably because they know they're likely to act in that manner. I have zero sympathy whatsoever for thos

And I don't buy that. People who aren't sexual predators don't have to worry about that.

Except the new ones have USB-C, which can literally become any other port. Any one of them can become the Ethernet jack. Any one of them can become the video out. Any one of them can become the charging port.

Something tells me that'd be more tedious to get the same kind of data, what with having to go to several instances to get it, instead of one place.

I'm sorry, but that paranoia is pure cowardice. If someone in power cannot meet with someone one on one without attempting anything, then they do not deserve to be in that position, full stop.

The drivers are the entire reason the company is successful. Why should they not share in that success?

Right, but the implication is that they'd be just fine meeting one on one with another man. That it's only women who get treated specially.

I don't believe that's the kind of feature being talked about. Rather than new controls, I think they're talking more about new things to do.

Because you're not presenting anything new. You're not providing any kind of evidence that the accusation might be false. You added nothing but a backhanded, "Women do bad things!" comment.

That is an extremely simplified version of what happened. She did far, far more than just say, "He touched me." And those in the company felt the accusation credible enough to choose to no longer associate with him. I'm sorry

Has anyone kept track of how often someone says something along those lines, and how often the suit is actually filed?

I think we then need to cut those people out. If you're not professional enough to be able to meet with anyone one-on-one, and not do anything, then you don't deserve a position in leadership.

There's usually far better ways to do it, and in my experience, "confronting them directly" is usually code speak for "get to yell and browbeat someone".

Not really. It's quite possible to do. The problem is that many in tech haven't really tried to develop the skill. Part of that whole, "Soft skills are useless in STEM; raw engineering prowess is all that matters!" minds

I find the comparison of being a jerk to your co-workers, and someone taking time off (to which they are entitled in companies that have sick leave) to care for their sick child to be false equivalence to the point of absurdity. Further, wh
