I'm curious: are there any supporters of the copyright regulations around HN that can provide some thoughts on the "pro" side of this? I'm trying to get my head around both sides of the argument, and I just can't se

Wow - Services grew 27% year-on-year to $10bn! For comparison, AWS made about $6.8bn in Q3. That's bananas. And it's more than just Apple Music / iCloud storage; it's the "ecosystem lock-in" and the glue that k

I'm really impressed that they made a number of environmental friendly additions, though they haven't been played up as much: - LED display is mercury-free - No arsenic - No BFR or PVC etc.

I think you misunderstood my argument - apologies for not being clearer. There is a difference between a company's _incentives_ to do something that is permitted by law - for which I would agree that said company is worthy of criticism

I'm not sure I agree that it IS hypocrisy: if you want to operate in a place for business, and you have no choice (i.e. my point about Apple's Board + Shareholders,) you can rail against the policies in public as much as possible

I struggle with Apple's China situation as well, but the more I turn it over in my head, the more I think it's that Tim is pulled between two parties: 1) His team + Apple Directors that I firmly believe, both in words AND in their

Mapquest and Yahoo Maps were the dominant mapping platforms until Google Maps removed competitor links in the search results. [1] Google during this time was pushing for "universal search," which would break away from vertical sea

It's a reasonable question - but the price can never be truly "free," because there's a cost to investment / build that product - meaning costs are non-zero. Therefore the negative profit in the short-term due to pr

The problem I have with this argument is that it sets up Amazon in a caricature that always makes them look evil and anti-labor: 1) Don't support lowering the minimum wage = Democrats + labor groups hate on you for not paying workers,

I'm not sure the data supports this conclusion that "America is losing its edge." VC funding continues to rise as a whole, and the declining share of US VC invested vs. rest of the world is just a trend of a broader portfolio
