Is there a roadmap somewhere? Seems like there's lots of obvious improvements that could be added. For example, chaining so you can "highlight and email to ..." (or "highlight | email to ..." if you prefer)

I've been using msys git 1.5.6 for quite a while, and find it stable and fast. (I'd prefer to use a recursive copy for rcs than anything under Cygwin though, so ymmv.)

For a file that big I'd probably do a mmap/MapViewOfFile (depending on how the data were accessed of course). Anyone have a pointer on that for [SB]CL?

5M, if you read the sources linked from crunchbase. Does seem pretty derivative, but might be a useful idea. Perhaps the website is mostly intended as a demo for their backend, which some bigger-viewer site could buy them for.

Wow, really seems like there's an awful lot of "tea leaf reading" going on. The human neural network being imperfectly trained by Google's algorithms, which probably have some sort of network learning involved. Funny stuff.

Live Arcade is typically 70/30 (70 for developer), but it's negotiated on a case-by-case basis. Hope he got more! Note that this isn't a "crap-out-a-game-make-a-mil"; he was working on this game for, I believe, 5-ish years. (worth buying an

I'm cheering for them because I enjoy developing on their hardware, and I hate programming for the PS3. Also, relax. It'd be great if an OS team made something that was technically interesting. Everyone, regardless of whether or not you use

Perhaps a really fast scroll would make more sense, so you could see a few words to the left and right for context.

I thought so to at first. If you put it at something more like normal reading speed (600 maybe?) it flows a bit better. I'm not quite sure what it's supposedly improving though.

I'm not sure if this applies to all majors, but one great thing about Math/CS at Waterloo was that the majority of reading material used was written by profs there. The little math dept. printing office latex/dvips/lpr'd and spiral bound it

My oft-repeated slightly OT 2cents: don't code on any notebook (including an Air) for extended periods of time: they're very unergonomic.

Yup, LLVM is awesome, and a quite R&D heavy project that doesn't directly really translate into a user product.

PageRank-Stanford-version might not be much code, but as I understand it, that's almost irrelevant to current search results which are much more complex.

I guess the "Turing" part of the name was a bit hopeful. Are the attacks actually doing OCR, or are they brute-forced against a database somehow? (or maybe those are the same thing these days?) I guess anything that's widespread enough will

Unfortunately, at least where I live, it is almost entirely not allowed to fail students in primary or early high school. So, graduating effectively means "I didn't die before age N". And of course, it's a downward spiral: if you can't mult

Before Rogers announced the rates, I'd even deluded myself into believing that maybe the iPhone would usher in somewhat more reasonable data rates here. Fuckers. Anyone want to start a Canadian mobile WiMAX company with me?

I agree, it was a nice user story. But, I'm damn sure that all the recipients would have carefully read every word of that email, even if it had been written in one large leetspeek paragraph.

Seems neat at first try. I'd be more likely to keep it installed if it didn't uglify (for example) the news.yc main page. Can you make the icons detect what they're next to so that the text doesn't get all mis-spaced? (FF3, Vista, in case i

I thought the ticker symbols were associated with the logos above them at first. I think you need to edit the layout a bit or improve whitespace somehow. Scrolling broke in a strange way when I moved up. Also, there must be a scrollbar.

I've only been a user of it, not an admin, but I loathe the interface so much that it doesn't matter what else is in there. Shitty version management behind an awkward-as-hell pile of documents, along with some ass messaging thing I have no
