A bit slow, but seems nicely polished after a very quick run through. Nice work.

Ditto. When I hit the main TC page, most of it seems like banal self-involved crap. But, if it gets past you guys first, it might be worth reading. I'm certainly in the 10%. I bet >10% here don't even open/visit an RSS reader every day.

Black background? There's only 2 shots that Dell released: http://yourblog.direct2dell.com/2008/05/28/something-from-de... and they're both on a backgroung that looks pretty white to me. The other ones are some gizmodo dude talking phone

I read single quotes as quoting someone too (and in my reading that's what the article you linked to is doing). I'm pretty sure you don't "need" quotes to "paraphrase" someone, you could just write the characterization, in, you know, words.

The one thing the really exacerbates it for me is stupid notebooks. I find I end up being much more hunched over, and having my wrists in awkward positions vs. a normal keyboard, monitor at a reasonable distance, etc. Also, I stopped playin

As a completely anecdotal data point, I read a bunch of tech news sites (preddit, newsyc, engadget, etc), but I had never actually clicked through to read anything about Powerset, and had no idea that they'd been working for a year or two.

"Kinda neat", like, "I hope there's a Greasemonkey script to turn it off?" Or "kinda neat", like, "possibly a useful way to monitize my site and annoy my users". Do you honestly think that anyone has ever selected some text on that site, an

Wow, really impressive. The ice was amazing (though as someone with bad knees, transferred anthropomorphization makes me cringe). Does anyone know why 4 legs was chosen? 4 seems better than 2 for stabilization, but why not 5, or 6, or 8? Ma

9. Failed at full-time (gave myself 6 months). For now, I'm back to enjoying a job + #8. Maybe I'll try again if I convince myself something's good enough to try for. Are you generating $500/day in value piddling around on your MacBook in R

Huh? You write CLR code, and much of the library you expect in those languages is available. I think that's what he means.

i think it would be a good idea to push what functionality is available on the main page; i trolled through what might be there by doing "a" backspace, "b", backspace, "c". also, more than half of the "sample commands" i handle as keyword s

Pre 0.8.1 there was no backtick and it was all manual AST afaict. 0.8.1 has [| |] which is similar to ` I believe. See second link above. Not sure about hygiene though, I guess not.

Cool. Would it be possible to push it to S3 too? I'm not familiar with the internal structure of a git repo, would it involve reuploading the majority of the data on a commit?

Looks neat. I think after voting you should replace the up with "jaa" and the down with "nix" because I didn't understand the name until I read the explanation that will presumably not always be on the fp.

Crazy. My first job was Java for about a year (in 1996-97) and after that I ignored it and hoped it would go away and not overtly hurt me. The bizarre thing is that I don't know of any software that I use other than (I believe) gmail that's

Is Java really as popular as these slides imply? I had no idea. Or is that only for Google? (or Sun, I guess maybe?)

Awesome (in the archaic sense) that the size estimate is only 200x what Google has currently. Seems trivially within reach in, what, only 8 doublings of performance? They guess at 10 years for "one machine", so what, 15-20 years before it's

I think people like clicking on the arrows to make them feel like they're having a say, without actually having to put in (much) effort. In all honesty, the churn is so high on most sites that the bias is heavily skewed towards "current", n

Didn't we just spend the last N+1 years desperately trying to avoid client-side downloads and installs? Seriously though, maybe in a few years, if and when the runtime comes pre-installed in most OSs/browsers (or something similar).
