Agreed, apt-get that just works is the "magic sauce" for me. It blows my mind that there are so many packagers out there doing that work, but it's freakin' awesome as a user.

Yeah, I know, I was sort of joking. The hard drive certainly quickly becomes an OS-managed cache though like ram is for hard drives now though.

Huge pipes to supply 600Mbit wireless stations ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/IEEE_802.11n-2009 ) would be a reasonable stopgap until faster wireless tech becomes available.

I thought the "download" part was funny too. 1g is as fast as many people's laptop hard drives anyway, so local storage is pretty much pointless.

Whether or not Neato understands the problem, Roomba doesn't solve it (i.e. my floor isn't clean, automatically). If Neato can come up with something that does clean the floor, regardless of tech/cost/whatever it surely has a chance to

There's going to have to be a "natural" Olympics pretty soon as bodybuilding does (i.e. take whatever you want for the real Olympics). Either that, or just admit it's over and say we had a nice run. Bob Goldman showed that it's basically go

Many/most libraries in Python are built in, so you don't need to hunt them down and install. More importantly your users need only have "Python", nothing more or less and don't have to fiddle to get things working.

They have the patients, money, and resources to do it. Despite the fact that I'm a regular Windows user, I still don't appreciate being referred to as a "patient".

They're almost universally total garbage on engadget anyway (and not just recently). I don't see any loss of value in leaving them off permanently. To be clear, I like engadget just fine, but the comments never seem to provide any insight/v

I'm not buying it. Agreed, Apple is certainly trying to close things down, but there's sufficient competition in the space that I don't see the "frightening future". If pads take off now, there'll be a decent Android GoogPad, WinMo ZunePad,
