I'm often hesitant about mapping the unofficial trails, particularly the ones you aren't supposed to use. There are many around the SF bay area, some are simply non-maintained non-system trails, while others are illegal mtb paths

I often notice when OSM is wrong/missing data while hiking and I'll record a trace and update when I get back home. I enjoy contributing but I wish there was a bit more of a community aspect to it (or maybe I simply haven't f

Looks like there is ~10^−8 earth masses of oil and coal [1]. I can't seem to find the mass of magneisum on earth but its 2.5% of the earth's crust, which is apparently <1% of the earth's volume, lets estimate 0.1% of the t

Appears so: https://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/abs/pii/S09596... Although, looks like much of this is done with hydroelectric processes (same with Aluminum production).

Doesn't most of what you said also apply to magnesium? Seems like we'll never run out (2.5% of earth's crust), there are well established methods to refine it and you just react the hydride with water to generate hydrogen.

Very cool, I just ordered a couple radios to play with. Looks like the app is Android only although an iPhone app is under development. Any recommendations for a cheap android phone/tablet to use mostly for this application?

Deionized water is often acidic as protons are introduced to replace the other ions. Co2 also dissolves immediately from the air forming carbonic acid. Regardless I don't think it's bad for your teeth it's not concentrated or

I commute by bike and I miss it. I'm not motivated enough to just go for a bike ride around the neighborhood so the commute was really good at forcing me to get my daily exercise. I know this isn't everyone's experience but I

I wear merino wool t-shirts to bike to work because they don't get smelly, however, they actually wear out much faster than cheap synthetic shirts. I usually buy them on clearance/sale for $30-40. $70-120 is nuts for a t-shit. I a

Same with medicine. Although under-served markets are common you still have to market yourself in private practice. New specialists advertise to GPs to get referrals for example.
