Did you have a clue as to where in swap the data was stored? Looking through a swap partition in a hex editor sounds mind-numbing.

Mid-2012 MBP here, haven't had any significant problems with Hangouts. (Aside from it being generally pretty terrible if your network connection isn't rock solid.)

Ah, okay, you were referring to identity in the technical sense rather than the social sense. I agree that increased adoption of OpenID or Persona would be great. Persona holds the most promise in my opinion, since it's similar enough

I'm in the US and I've never heard of 2015-04-03 being interpreted as March 4. I just see the standard interpretation as logical, since it's coarse (year) to fine (day).

The moment you hook into those systems, you're segmenting your userbase. If you rely on iMessage for transport, you can only talk to Apple users. The situation is similar with Hangouts and WhatsApp - while you're not limited to on

The fact that it's meant to be run in a browser is somewhat concerning. HTTPS is... okay... but for a GPG replacement I wouldn't really want to be dependent on the CA system or a remote server.

I'd imagine the lack of rhyme is likely due to the fact that English pronunciation is ambiguous. Given only the text, it would have no way of picking up the fact that, say, "here" and "beer" rhyme, while "there

"Homeless" means just that: without a home. Any additional meaning is just part of the mental model you've constructed over time, which isn't necessarily a full representation of reality. You could add a qualifier to it.

I disagree regarding the "tablet" point - while the major DEs take some UI inspiration from tablets, in general they're still very much desktop-oriented. People often complain about Unity for being "too much like a table

Yeah, that was my point with basic income. With something like that, people without jobs wouldn't need to be homeless - the idea would be to give them enough to get by. You're right, automation will tend to put people out of work.
