The phrasing “<statement> — no X, Y, Z, just <final simplified claim>” is cropping up a lot lately. 4o also ends many of its messages that way. It has to be related.

Dozens? Don't you mean, probably hundreds of trillions in the observable universe? Not that the number of planets really implies anything when we don't know the probability of life arising on one of them.

There are many effective ways to argue against what you're saying, but I'll choose the easiest. You said "perhaps" it doesn't matter. Well, perhaps it does matter. If there is even a small chance it does matter, we

So, your argument (ignoring the appeal to authority) is: 1.Social rights can be reduced entirely to obligations on others. Dubious. Ignoring that maybe the value to the person granted the social right could outweigh the obligation to others

How is “losing weight is simple: eat fewer calories than you burn” unhelpful? I’m genuinely asking, and want to understand how to empathize better. It seems like a lot of people don’t make weight loss progress because they never internalize

When and how would one use binary vectors for encoding in ML? Do you have to make your model work natively with binary vectors or is there a translation step between float and binary vectors to make it compatible?

AWS is so anti-customer with respect to GPUs right now. They have the highest prices of any cloud. What happened to “your margin is my opportunity”? And, as far as I know, customers are unable to allocate a VM with fewer than eight A100, H1

I’m an ML engineer who’s spent more than 5 minutes thinking about this idea and would not have automatically rejected the pitch.

As you noted below, it depends on the industry. But for software, and my impression is that it is even more like this in most other industries, a huge amount of tech ventures never receive any funding. Many of these are never even properly

Only a small percentage of tech companies raise a series A or beyond. To me, this just seems like a capital-efficient alternative to the founder increasing their salary that could be negotiated. I had no such perception that this was some “

Because while self-awareness may be fertile ground for interesting emergent behavior, it is not mysterious. There is no “hard problem of self-awareness”. We basically know what’s going on at the ground level. Whereas with sentience (awarene

Why do you find self-awareness to be the more fascinating area of study? It makes complete sense that something could be self-aware if it could be aware of anything at all. What more do you need to research/understand about self-awaren

Hey, about your clone of https://generals.io - why not make it a better designed version of that game instead of just a clone? Perhaps you have plans to. There are things about the original that kind of suck. 1) Spawning closer

You would be right about selling naked options. But call/put credit spreads have bounded downside, just like buying options. Selling cash secured puts or selling covered calls would be less risky than just holding stock.

Then be the options seller. You can sell cash secured puts, or a put credit spread, or a call credit spread. Calls are even more expensive than puts right now.

To add a perspective I haven’t seen yet in this thread, I’ve been riding one of these for 6 years and it’s basically my favorite way to get around. For me, it has more utility than a bike. I usually go around 15 mph and I’m careful to not n

If you get 2 dollars on the first head, 4 dollars on the second, etc., then the probability of receiving each dollar amount multiplied by the dollar amount is 1 dollar. 1/2 * 2 + 1/4 * 4 + 1/8 * 8 ... = 1 + 1 + 1 ... = ∞ Of c

They are only 1% off. They’re trying to say “there are two independent 10% probability events that imply RTSC”. You can’t add them, but you can multiply 90% by 90% and get an 81% chance of not RTSC, or a 19% chance of RTSC according to this

I don't think you really disproved anything. You're just saying another hypothesis. Often, LLMs produce impressive results on domains that aren't in the training set.
