I (and I suspect most others) cannot accurately value a product without points of comparison. We rely on the market to conduct the price discovery process. If thousands of people have bought an item on Amazon, and it has many great review

There are no acceptable subscription fees. Why should any of us put up with paying for content when we have no interest in giving away our money?

No, I wouldn't. (Do I know you?) I don't even use ad blocker.

Intrusive ads are not some new phenomenon. Print, radio, and TV ads are all definitely intrusive as well. I don't generally hear the same crowd advocating the end of all such advertising.

Autonomous killing machines are a natural progression of military technology. They will certainly be created by someone at some point in the future. Thus, our military should definitely be researching this topic, and that's all that

While this is certainly interesting and useful, mutual funds change their valuations so infrequently that it still doesn't give us a good read on the current valuation. I would love some someone to take the much harder step of trackin

And the 5MM valuation refers to the cap?

Question for Sam -- How do you raise the first 200K at a different valuation without significant extra cost and hassle? I'm guessing it would be a SAFE or convertible note, in order to avoid issuing such a small amount of equity.

For YC companies, which also benefit from a Bay Area premium. Up here in Seattle, 5MM is not a discounted, seed stage, pre-money valuation.

It's a reasonable language choice, and the OCaml's type safety was obviously an important factor. However, the key reason why it was such a brilliant choice was for attracting top talent. People who show the initiative to learn

YC companies are in fact selected on their merit. What are you proposing instead of the current system, socialized startup advice and funding?

The question posed by this article is unfair, because it labels Ackman as a regulator. He has absolutely no regulatory authority, and if you want to claim that his money allows him to act as one, then what of all of the money put behind He

It is indeed a fact that the TPP moves us closer to Economic Integration. Claiming that Economic Integration is a threat to classical liberalism is your opinion, and is not supported by the link you cited.

You didn't argue for why the chain analogy applies here. You just argued that we should reject the entire agreement if one part is so egregiously bad that it outweighs the others, which is obviously true. Why does the "weakest l

I don't understand your use of the chain analogy. The TPP is wide-ranging agreement. How are the economic benefits of reduced tariffs eliminated by another aspect of the deal, such as copyrights?

The EFF obviously is focused on one aspect of the deal, and I don't find their arguments about the other aspects to be convincing. For the economic benefits, they use the same form of argument that global warming skeptics and creation

What happens when this company fails? I would assume the debt would be auctioned off, and a firm that specializing in this sort of investment would scoop it up at a discount. It would be hilarious if they auctioned off the contracts separa

It's partly because foreign exchange was slower than, say, U.S. equities at becoming automated. If any of the electronic bond-trading platforms every takes off, then that market will see the exact same trend.
