Of course they’re not. They’re selling a shallow self-help brand, disguised as greybeard developer insights. It’s easy to find examples of actual great developers & read about their work.

I was totally unaware of the progress of Odin, it looks way more interesting now than when I had first heard of it. I’m surprised it’s already been adopted (or did they start EmberGen in Odin?!) by a commercial product.

(Ignoring the language itself for a moment) I absolutely love cargo. It’s so productive & easy to use. I have never had the pleasure of using such a painless cross platform build system. I’m neutral on Rust itself but Cargo is awesome.

I have more experience with Go + interact with it more regularly at work, whereas choosing Rust was mostly for fun/exploration. I realized I don't have the bandwidth currently to learn/debug a new language I'm unfamiliar

render.com & fly.io are two choices that may fit your description. I've deployed a small project to render.com and it's been enjoyable.

Had a hobby project on heroku that I've moved to render.com pretty painlessly. It's a simple rust (actix + sqlite) project. I now have a go (gin + sqlite) project that is intended to replace the rust project that I also plan to se

I'm thinking it may be due to functional programming ideas slowly being introduced to (or were already part of) some of the more trendy/mainstream languages like C++20 (ranges, lambdas, concurrency, etc) & Rust (pattern matchi

Great news, I’m very excited for the future of Godot. Once Godot 4.0 reaches beta, I’ll hopefully have some time to play around with it for hobby projects.

Exactly this, I know many adults who almost never buy raw ingredients to cook for themselves. It is common & accepted to consume exclusively frozen food, packaged snacks, and takeout.

I’ve had this list bookmarked for years and love referring back to it for ideas. It’s also one of the first things I send to new(er) programmers so they can make cool tangible stuff & avoid tutorial burnout.
