That's only about half their waste, the other half gets put into man made ash ponds that eventually become superfund sites, or leak into rivers and cause massive damage.

The U.S. can build reactors as well, we just put them in boats.

Arguing for less consumption is a non-starter. It's a tacit admission that the solution to global warming is killing say 30% of the global population, just framed in an indirect manner so it doesn't sound like genocide.

Nuclear would almost definitely provide real results faster than renewables, but renewables provide the illusion of progress. Being able to show progress let's them look a lot better than they actually are.

This is important for way more than just Presidential elections. It helps solve the money in politics problem as well by diluting power and making representatives more accountable.

The Paris agreement was a bout wealth transfer more than it was emissions. Lip service was given to emissions so it could be positioned as a climate focused agreement.

We know that waste is sitting in a pond, it's not set free, it's not capable of magically moving itself. We have no idea where any of those coal emissions ended up, and we still have piles of extremely toxic ash just like the nucl

The 5% -> 25% was literally the easiest part. The big expensive downsides to renewables really aren't a factor. Intermittency is minor when you can fall back on 75%, if there's only 50% to fall back on that's a problem.

People will absolutely try to take out mortgages they can't afford. Post 2008 rules make giving a mortgage to someone who can't afford the first month nearly impossible, but you can still get a mortgage that will crush you without

Facebook is the one major social network not censoring the right. The left doesn't make the top 10 because they are far too diffuse among other networks, but no less hateful. Reddit is actively working towards censoring anything right

I think "poach factor" is a more important idiom/risk, naming particular boogeymen isn't all that relevant. It's far more common, and far costlier. As someone who has literally experienced the bus (well car) factor,

The few places I've seen that try to push the benefits/perks angle vastly overestimate their superiority and value of those things. 10-20k a year for 5 years buys a lot of food, gym memberships, tickets, drinks, swag, etc.

How many deaths would we have if adults were standing up and being adults? Zero is wishful thinking an not being an adult. Avoiding all risk is just as bad as taking all risk, in this case every choice has lives on the line.

You don't really own the land when it's mortgaged. Selling property to reduce risk is a good strategy in times like this. No rental income on a property is a negative return, that can't be managed for long.
