There was ad by NeXT -- "In the 90's we'll probably see only ten real breakthroughs in computers. Here are seven of them." that lists making Unix usable as one of them. I have this poster framed in my office. A copy and someones review of

There was no suggestion above to add Pocket or Readability support to the iOS app, just that by picking iOS, he chose a distribution platform that keeps apps much like his own from scraping the content. If all publications worked this way,

Doing it as an iOS app like this also prevents you from doing "Share to Pocket / Readability" like you would be able to with a website -- keeps you from scraping the content out of the publishers site.

iOS 3 on any device has a tiny marketshare - Instapaper showed it at less than 1.2% of iOS, and that was nearly 9 months ago. ( http://www.marco.org/2011/11/30/more-ios-device-and-os-versi... ) The support matrix for Enyo is here - http:/

While there are performance issues in Webkit vs Native, for the trivial example the issue is usually the default delay in generating a 'click' event. Browsers wait 300ms to see if you're attempting a doubletap. You want to use a framework

A number of the core developers of Enyo were hired by Google - the ones that had done a bulk of the public commits. But some remain and they're now hiring to fill those positions. See http://www.theverge.com/2012/5/24/3042441/hp-enyo-goog

Neither of these things are Enyo, the javascript framework for application UI, they're part of the OS itself. What remains of the webOS team is likely still there. Notifications and other UX existed in webOS before 3.0 and Enyo, implemente

Yes, Instapapers model is more straight forward, but you do not have to go to the publishers site and seen the ads, to add the article. Instapaper provides and API to add links without visiting the site that is used by a number of other app

This is the very first UI release, only a month after the core framework release, so there are certainly alot of minor areas like this that can be improved. And also core widgets still to be done - Lists, Panes, etc. Development is now in

You didnt have to write them with Mojo, you could write them with any HTML/JS framework, or just roll you own. Mojo was just the one the Palm apps (Email, Web, Phone, ..) used. And a vast majority of the apps for the platform used it for U

The scrollers and sliders are glitchy. I think it may be some interaction between the touch events and scrolling specific to the Android webkit implementation when hosted in an app rather than the native browser. If you switch to "paged" m

Because the 'native' UI is ... HTML/CSS/JS. There is no non-HTML 'native' UI on webOS. Don't want to implement RSA in javascript? Create a 'hybrid' webOS app using a C lib, but 'native' HTML UI. The 'native' Mojo or Enyo frameworks may not
