I dont think any of the Android clients use the Instapaper API ( http://www.instapaper.com/api/full ) - they scrape the website, making it impossible to do things like sync reading postion across devices. There is a decent Window Phone 7 cl

"If it's your webapp, you check the User-Agent-header" Thats fine if your communication is only via your website. Consider if you have to send an email bulletin and explain this. Or write it up in a technical support answer. "If it's someb

Been using it for several months now, but would have to agree with this. It often seems to churn away endlessly shoving meta data back and forth, and has periodically gotten confused about what files have been deleted or moved. Also had an

600px may be fine for Hotmail, but I think the bigger question is how to deal with people reading this HTML mail on mobile clients with smaller screens. People are reading alot of email on mobile devices and its increasing. A table 600 px

Yes, click the slightly non-obvious "Aa" item added at the top and it will open options to customize. There are two rectangle icons that allow you to increase and reduce the margin.

Charge them a license fee to shoot the elephants in need of shooting, and increase that fee until supply meets demand. Now its sustainable economically, if possibly not morally.

Or you use the web technologies for a "native" app and focus only on the browser for that platform. Then port to others as needed, rather than trying to support them "all" from day one on a web app. Certainly a web app is usually still not

And the point about the former services keeping a single copy and this one keeping one per person. I'm sure thats a key distinction. The former services like mp3.com were not positioned so much as "upload your mp3's here" but "put your CD

I could care less, but companies have done it several times. Netscape skipped version 5 (a doomed project). Microsoft ditched version numbers for years (95, 98, 2000), and then just names -- due to how version number increments on an existi

I'd say the "higher end game apps" are PDK apps, often because they're just porting existing iOS code. They have no need for the HTML UI. With OS 2.x there are now options for hybrid apps as well - native code, but HTML UI. And the opti

They're not 'web' apps, they're apps built to a specific platform. Many of those are internal intranet apps, and some are not even networked - they're actual apps that use the IE rendering engine for UI. You may not like that they're not bu

You're comparing Netflix US users against global Bittorrent users. Netflix likely has a large chunk of US users. And likely streams a larger portion of the content in HD.

"BitTorrent is available in 52 languages with 'clients checking in from over 220 countries every day.'" Wow, a service available world wide, is twice the size of two that are US-only, one of which is not free. Big surprise.

These are 'pretty designs', some even just a one page, above the fold bit. More impressive would be comprehensive site design and UX for a site with a significant amount content, and not just a pretty home page.
