Considering that the "ruling class" are running companies that are operating in an increasingly global economy, how can they not be concerned about (global) competitiveness?

I empathize with that prospect, but unless you have deep pockets, won't you be quickly vaporized into dust through legal fees? This is especially problematic given the seasonal nature of income tax.

I don't know how they plan to monetize, but plenty of companies do it, such as Mint. When you have all that tax data, I bet you have plenty of opportunity to sell stuff.

My son, who is 9, has been asking me to teach him how to mod Minecraft. He is obsessed with the game, which makes it a great incentive to learn to code. I am setting up a dev environment this week to do simple Forge mods.

Agreed. Some very popular malls in socal are of the open-air variety. I was replying to the parent, who mentioned "city center".

With the current state of mobile app permissioning, I wouldn't be surprised if analytics companies are mining text message history for signals. This should be easy for you to test though.

I see no problem with this setup if the homeowners association own the network, and can bid out managing the service to private ISP's. That's the ideal setup, IMO. Consider the data pipes a utility, but let free market forces dr

Non-replaceable battery is probably a primary why this may not be the case. My iPad 3 seems to be discharging much more quickly these days, and will probably mean a replacement will be needed sometime next year.
