This would be great if it could also generate javascript code to run the app (backbone.js, angular...) then you could plug that into calling your backend.

I liked the design of their pages so I went to look at the source and noticed every page is wrapped in a top level form tag, can someone explain why they would do this?

quickly looking at the bootstrap javascript they are making calls to $().offset which also doesn't work for hidden elements, so yes were talking about the same thing.

The biggest issue I run into with plugins and backbone is ones that rely on jquery position. The position api needs to be called after the element is attached to the dom and is not hidden. I like to encapsulate all the view logic within the

I was confused by what the different colored triangles meant, at first I thought it was perhaps some sort of build status indicator. Adding a key about the different colors might be nice to have.

When I am trying out/learning a new library or framework, I do a lot of tinkering, looking around and reading the source code. Coffeescript output is definitely readable, but you need to take a tiny bit of time to translate the coffeescript

I would avoid even trying this framework out because its written in coffeescript. I have nothing against cs and write most of my clientside app code in cs, but I think libraries should avoid using it. Simply because it makes debugging more

I'm the author of that gem. My goal with it is to really just help people get up and running with rails & backbone as quickly as possible. There are no best practices built in and I try to avoid adding any extra features that aren't nee

I'm not from Bocoup, but I want something like this to build, test, deploy the client portion of my apps and then proxy api calls to backend services.

Me saying "mock startup" was probably a bad term to use, plus I'm probably missing the use case of hacker school. What I really meant was to work on something larger scale as a team. For an example make a clone of hn or reddit, do a web app

What about having your students develop and launch a mock startup? Building small apps and going over books is great, but I think students can learn a lot more real world dev by actually doing it. You can still emphasize code quality, agile

This is the first I've heard of OpenShift, from the sounds of it there are a set list of applications/languages you can use on the platform? Are there any plans for node.js support?

I have yet to migrate off of IndexTank, but I've heard good things about elasticsearch and am going to be giving it a try once time permits. Has it been officially stated that indextank will be shutdown anytime soon?

If you're interested in dnode you should also check out hook.io https://github.com/hookio/hook.io It uses dnode to essentially let you build an auto-discovering message bus. I recently started using it and so far its been an amazing way t

In the past year I've dropped 40lbs of fat and have put on a good amount of muscle. For my goals, which are fat loss and lift as much weight as possible, Id say I've hacked my nutrition pretty well. Instead of limiting how much I eat, I lim

Looking at that listing the more amazing stat is that twitter bootstrap is #3. That was just released a few months ago and is "simply" an html ui framework. I think this highlights that over anything else, what most developers really need i

I really enjoyed this review, it came off very honest and you didn't try to be very pro or con, just what you ran into over the past year. You mention no reasonable Scala client exists, why not create and release your own? I know Riak talks

The title might be a bit misleading, I thought this was going to be something where I could hook into your api and I could build something fun. Instead it seems to be more of an interview questions style challenge.
