We had a guy like this on our team last year. He never said he was autistic, but in my opinion he was pretty far over on the spectrum. He was a very smart guy and a prolific developer, but absolutely terrible to work with. He would argue en

You are absolutely right. It's a collective action problem in extremely large cohorts (regional/national populations). As such, it can probably only be realistically solved by legislation banning the practice. Individual action on

Astute observation about agency. You're absolutely right that current AIs are capable, but without a drive to actually do anything. They are lacking what every organism on the earth has - the predilection for "not being terminated

Mmm. Maybe. It's still not clear to me that you can have a decentralized, P2P verification network that can handle anywhere near worldwide transaction volume. It's also not obvious to me that cryptocurrencies have value beyond &qu

Go is: * Easier/safer than C * Less dangerous than Javascript (statically typed and a good standard library) * Much faster than Python I think it's an excellent middle ground, compromise language. It's the centrist candidate

Because when you have 500 devs, they have to build _something_. It's why every single good software product bloats to become a slow, confusing, mess of features. Software development feature entropy is the 4th law of thermodynamics.

I dunno. Cloudflare gives me the creeps. I have no idea why so many folks think large swaths of the Internet should be reliant on a single company.

Does anyone actually have reliable success with this as a single coder model? Seems like the HFT firms would have already taken all the profit opportunity for this.

I can tell you what worked well for me - find a few other like minded devs/designers and one VERY GOOD biz dev person and you can have a lot of success as a co-op studio. We did this and we were immediately quite profitable from day on

Enshittification aptly describes the symptoms, but it doesn't explain the problem. The underlying issue is that enshittification is just growth induced entropy. The constant accumulation of half-baked features or user-hostile choices.
