Very nice. Was just thinking about building an LLM-assisted version of this where it DMs people asking their availability and then figures it all out. This is way more efficient.

Do you also think that children should be allowed to buy cigarettes? I'll be honest, I am not certain that social media is any less deleterious than tobacco. I'm a pretty pro-market guy, but there are times when the interests of t

My understanding is that the Coast Guard is pretty selective and it's not easy to get into. Something like 15% acceptance rate. I don't think they're having the same recruiting difficulties as the larger branches.

For real. Recently re-activated my eBay account after 10 years to buy a relatively obscure item and amazingly it is almost exactly the same site that it was 20 years ago. I guess there's something to be said for not chasing infinite gr

I find the "it's just picking the next most likely word" argument to be not very convincing. If anything it makes me wonder if that's not all there is to my own intelligence. Hell, try writing a paragraph backwards and t

I dunno. I'm in my 40s and I can't even begin to imagine the neck strain you'd have after strapping goggles to your face for 8 hours a day. Even counter-balanced, it's going to be hard on your neck. We'll probably s

The scariest part to me is the realization that not only will we probably crack AGI in my lifetime, if we keep throwing resources at it, it will almost certainly have a richer more sophisticated conscious experience than myself. What the he

We have to understand it to build it? That seems absurd. Did evolution understand it? I'll grant you that maybe we should understand it before building it, but it's absolutely not a requirement. The reality is that your consciou
