It's brutal and tedious to add non Google things to track to their Tag Manager. Feels like an engineering written tool, Segment.io's "flip the switches" is way better for the people that use these types of tools, ie marketers.

Yep, that's definitely part of it. Also government funded systems are still built by private companies, but instead of figuring out the best way to save money (as they would do if self-funded) they pad their margins and make the systems in

We were talking about a US city (my fault for bringing in London), so yes, I'm not sure you can compare the type of government owned organizations that are common in Asia to how our governments and infrastructure work.

When people compare public transit systems, one thing to keep in mind. The ones you usually compare as world class: NYC, Chicago, London were all originally built by private companies (and later made public), while the crappier ones out th

You're missing the point. The gross numbers haven't increased, but the things that actually matter (what you can buy for your money) have decreased. The key point being: "spending by households on many of modern life's "basics"—food at ho

Most people I knew had 56k modems by 98 (by '99 I had a cable modem), 128kbs compression was the standard you'd find, and getting a song for free by just waiting 15 minutes was still magic Edit almost forgot about Ethernet in the dorms.

Do you have experience distributing apps? While the pure numbers are massively Android, my personal experience is iOS will get you far more downloads, so either Android people are not downloading apps, the Android numbers are inflated by d

Developers go where the users go (and pay). Until the Windows and Android stores start bringing devs the same type of money, it's still always worth it to "take the risk" of Apple's store. The only way I see this changing is if users thems

This is somewhat misleading, because the primary thing that allows these accelerated numbers is an extremely low spending rate. IE you can retire in 2 years if you save 95% because somehow you are able to live on only 5% of your take home

I've had this same experience several times when doing cross platform app dev. Even though Android supposedly has a majority marketshare now, iOS downloads/users are usually at least 2:1, if not a more crushing 8:1 or 12:1. It's unclear to

For what it's worth, the Costco Amex is a charge card, not a credit card, so you have to pay it off every month and it has no annual or other fees, but I totally understand how it can be hard for some people to manage the cash flow.

If this is your game, you should consider making all purchases on a charge card that pays 1-5% on all purchases, the Costco Amex is the one I use.

This is partly why I didn't "get" Dollar Shave Club. I buy a pack of 52 disposable razors from Costco, really decent ones: http://www2.costco.com/Browse/Product.aspx?Prodid=11093041&#... and it's $30 for basically one razor per week for
