It's going to be a horrible job though, the equivalent of fixing Y2K bugs in Cobol code except with code bases that even more vast and unintelligible.

It varies a lot by vendor. The older SiFive P550 is pretty good, see these forum threads: https://forums.sifive.com/t/where-is-the-source-code-of-the-... https://forums.sifive.com/t/building-opens

The problem is there used to be a separate physical card (BRP), but the Home Office got rid of it and moved to this all digital system. In other words there is no backup method available to ground staff.

The Home Office does manage to be both cruel and incompetent, which is the worst possible combination.

So did we, although we were in the end able to persuade them to let us board the flight by showing a screenshot of my friend's eVisa status from the UK government website (so secure!) To be fair to the airlines here, if they get it wro

At least in theory, the drivers being linked to the kernel and using the GPL symbols from the kernel means the drivers could be covered by the GPL whatever Google's intended license was. I'm sure they have $$$$ lawyers who have l

Eddie Fisher ( https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Eddie_Fisher ) The film also has loads of actors from the 1950s/1960s golden age. It was made in 1984 so for some it was their final roles.

Weird story ... Dr Bronner also appeared in the greatest unreleased movie ever made. With Bill Murray and Dan Ackyroyd and Liz Taylor's ex husband. And it was the only movie Dr Bronner appeared in according to imdb: https:/

Humans manage to be pretty intelligent with only reading perhaps a few thousand books in their lifetime. It seems unlikely that AGI will appear but only once it has read that last out of print 1983 book on knitting patterns.

This is not true, at all. Debian has like 50K packages, many of them extremely niche. Packaging is all about how difficult something is to build/package, not how popular it is. I've been a Linux distro packager for decades.

Sure. They'll get it when it's packaged by the distro. Following the steps I outline will make that happen faster.

In the early stages you can help by making your source code easy to build. No weird build system, make dependencies optional as much as possible, document how to build, reduce the number of steps required and make them as similar as possib

The answer is to not do it. Provide the source and help distro maintainers to package it for you. You can help by being responsive to maintainers' questions, making sure the source is clean (no binary blobs, weird licenses, strange b
