I'm not sure about Cairo, but IMHO AGG is probably one of the best C++ libraries out there. Great use of C++ capabilities like templates. Too bad, development isn't active anymore. AGG - http://antigrain.com

I believe the Copyrights for Sherlock Holmes expired in year 2000 and in public domain since then. So I don't think BBC needed to license it from the estate, at least in the UK.

I'm assuming one can now make movies/television/video games with those characters without paying any sort of royalty.

It depends. A regular laptop can do more things, but most of the time students just need a laptop to research and write articles and the Chromebook does that very well, without exposing the internals of a traditional desktop system. If I&#x

I commend Google for it, but my inner voice is somewhat skeptical that this is a great way to get kids hooked on Google's services. Then again, having a Chromebook is way better than some crappy linux machine/cheap windows laptop.

I have to say it again - I'm so glad Qt didn't end up at Microsoft.

Does the jury give a detailed explanation beyond the judgement? Also how come all these patent trolls are incorporated in Texas?

Misleading title! For a moment, I thought a giant marine octopus is attacking Seattle. Joking aside, I'm very surprised that the teenager was able to escape a nine foot giant octopus. I'm sure he'll have a great story to tell

Just curious, what is lacking in Xcode for C++ development? I've a few years experience with C++ and I find Xcode to be quite nice and usable.

I wonder how they're getting around the issue of LLVM's lack of OpenMP support. I'm sure there are atleast a few modules in FreeBSD that utilize OpenMP. I too want to switch from GCC to LLVM/Clang but can't right no

I don't think the gov of India will ever understand the fundamental idea or the potential of Bitcoin. PayPal had issues with the regulatory bodies until very recently. Considering the red tape an average Indian has to face to open a ba

Hands down, the best HN browsing app I've ever used. I really don't see the need to go native either. Its pretty responsive on iOS when I add it to the home screen. Great work!

I think its unfair to blame Dropbox that they never mentioned 'Packrat'. Its clearly noted in their pricing page https://www.dropbox.com/upgrade Also, one should always periodically backup their files, so in the event of data corruption i

This article reinforces the current problem in the indian society. You need to have a brand label attached to you to get a decent job. First off, India has 16 IIT institutions and they accept less than 10 thousand students each year. Also
