Pretty sure Tier 4 should be faster than that. I wonder if the CPU was fully utilized on this benchmark. I did some performance work with Axum a while back and was bitten by Nagle algorithm. Setting TCP_NODELAY pushed the benchmark from 90,

Yeah, let's trash the 50 year old industry standard and let's obfuscate the interface to one of the most performance sensitive part of an application. Hell, lets build multiple obfuscators for each language, each with it's ow

I'm not sure about enterprise use cases, but for my project I was able to process 60TB of Common Crawl data with Rust at line rate on a budget server without any issues. Code was easy enough to write and it ran great on second try with

Their implementation added one more round of encryption for unknown reasons, which turns out weakened AES enough to break it with a GPU cluster. Google looks to be well scrubbed of the story but it featured on HN a while back.

Sure, Signal encryption is better implemented than Motorola's. That means nothing when your device can be cracked with something like Pegasus without any interaction form you.

Motorola radios marketed at law enforcement have flawed AES encryption and can be decrypted in near real time. You are delusional if you think your consumer phone or any app on it is more secure than that.

Windows 10 LTSC for my testing machine, MacOS for me and ChromeOS Flex for the friends and family Thinkpads. This pretty much solves our personal computing needs. Throw in a few vintage Brother laser printers where needed.

I think Google search quality peaked around 2012, it's been downhill since then. Enshittification is real.

My Moto G42 has great AMOLED display, decent stereo speakers, and 13 days of battery with very light use when running LineageOS. $60 used without a scratch on it. Can't beat the value. 2 SIM cards, SD slot and a headphone jack are a bo

I went from 2013 MBP to M3 Pro MBP and the performance improvement in Rust / rust-analyzer was staggering.

I'm all for replacing C++ with Rust in the base system. Next step would be to move OpenSSL to ports, [with alternative libreSSL based ports tree available] and use rustls for fetch and friends.

It is so disappointing that ARM and RISC-V is adopting UEFI, we had a chance of a clean break, but noo, let's make persistent firmware level root kits easy and cross platform with EFI bytecode. Yep, network stack with hard coded web ad

Funny thing is, once the original toner is due for replacement I'm going to replace it with an original one. My fear with DRMed cartridge is not that I can't use aftermarket one, it's me buying original that might not work re

The ones before chipped toners were great. I keep on refilling the original starter cartridge with $10 toner powder, no need to reset or anything like that. It just works. Spectacular price/performance ratio.

Rust can be pretty rapid if you unwrap() and clone() everything. You are building a prototype after all. Adding error handling, traits and modules can be done later if the project has merit.

The younglings don't seem to appreciate what a godsend jQuery was back in the day, it gave you a decent API that worked on all browsers, including IE6. HTMX nowadays is giving off a similar vibe, it gets you 95% there without modern JS
