We carefully select and use PaaS and managed cloud services to construct our infrastructure with. This allows us to maximize our focus on what our customers are paying for: creating software for them which will typically be in use for 5+ ye

Not switching, because switching won't change anything except for me not being able to message anyone anymore. WhatsApp has become the national messaging platform in my country. Giving it up would be like giving up SMS 20 years ago.

Market share of WhatsApp in The Netherlands is somewhere around 90%. It is time for the government to step in here because the free market will not be able to fix this.

Here you go: https://ambrasoft.nl/ambrasoft-school/ It is utterly ridiculous, this company is still selling their Flash crap to primary schools. They are part of Noordhoff, the largest publisher of the education system

You have to take cost of living into account as well if you’re going to compare international salary differences.

I’m guessing you’re in EU somewhere? If so you should probably mention that, because very normal and humane things like these (and others like healthcare, 25+ paid holidays, unemployment policies, maternity/paternity leave, etc.) are u

I got used to them really quickly to the point that I prefer them over regular characters. No mental gymnastics required.

This looks really nice, too bad it doesn't (and never will) support ligatures. I understand the point the author is trying to make about ligatures in the separate blog post, but boy do I love my ligatures when programming.

> Code scanning for private repositories is part of GitHub Advanced Security Looks like they expect you to upgrade to their Enterprise plan. That’s a 5x increase in subscription costs.

These kind of dependencies is one of the reasons I prefer to avoid react-* libraries. It would be nice to see more flexible dependencies in such libs for example like material-ui pickers [0] which let’s you bring your own date/time lib

Our team has seen a boost in productivity thanks to hooks. It has resulted in more straight forward and cleaner component code, making it easier to reason about how they work. We've been able to get rid of a lot of annoying and confusi

I loved the Head First books, looking back I kind of owe my career to them because these books helped me level up my programming skills from hobby to job. I used to recommend these books all the time to both junior and experienced colleague

I’ve worked with this and in the context of the SAP enterprise world and all of its ancient and weird stuff this is quite a step forward. It is however unfortunate that they choose to use OData which is horrible to work with, and the API it

Anyone here who has experience working with JS/TS development tools (vscode, yarn, webpack, Node.js etc.) on a recent MacBook Air? I wonder if the performance is noticeably worse than a 13” MacBook Pro for this type of work.
