that's more or less what I wrote. but in many cultures touching food with your bare hands for the purpose of eating is considered barbaric. that's why I suspect that the problem isn't the knife - it's having to use your

I was intending to refer to kitchen knives. In that area there is nothing chef knife sized below 100 Euro with carbon steel.

I was just wondering how having only a knife helps with eating. The knife will just make the food bite-sized - though, how do you fixate the meal while cutting? Then it struck me - you'll use your other hand for that and also for movin

Carbon steel just looks beautiful and ages so naturally. It's really hard to find knives with blades not made of stainless steel - at least in reasonable price ranges.

I noticed that in cultures where violence is a more accepted form of behavior it is much less likely that someone will bump into me on a busy street. In places like Split (Croatia) or Istanbul there is more natural inclination to grant some

I totally understand your feelings. My main approach is that I try to embrace and accept doom. It's going to come anyway. I also don't believe there is any real value in a survival of the human race. The end was always going to co

I think the prevalent assumption on HN is that every regulation can be traced back to some accident or mistake. It is impossible to put safety rails everywhere (both literally and metaphorically). Some people will try to make selfies on the

You totally make a valid point. But I would literally remove all those safety rails. People just have to keep a safe distance from the edge of the cliff.

That's such a proud and confident thing to say. No need for a throwaway account. I would argue that striving for success is often the best way to actually not reach one's fullest potential.

Good point - personally, I am skeptical whether weed increases creativity. I never experienced that. I just don't like the weed-bashing from the angle of the you-have-to-be-productive-dogma.
