I doubt it will be the VC's bidding once it goes public, typically it will be the public and investment funds. VC's on the liquidating side once one of their investments go public so they can get their exit.

Nothing really, but to preserve the experience of Netflix, you'd have to have on premise equipment cache the broadcast (the actual content) and the library of films you can watch instantly will be limited to the storage of your device.

A few missing packets may not matter, you're right. MPEG has a lot of error checking and error handling built into the transport stream layer. But I think the bigger reason Netflix uses TCP is because TCP has a much easier time with NA
