Can you have empathy for… - those who lack empathy? - those who declare some lives less valuable than others? - those who don’t care enough to stick their necks out to stand up for what’s right unless it affects them very directly?

I agree with your comment, and I would like to build on something you said: > resist buying into the impoverished ideas of the world you were born into. Instead of “resist”, I might instead say, “see clearly” or “recognise” that these co

Help me understand how being starved for food is analogous to having OS version names that don’t reflect the order of OS releases.

It’s not obvious to me that the train pulling away was the point here. It is merely a meditation on the fact that machines are “absolutely incorruptible”, so if we’re talking about the same thing, it is a tangential fact if some human did o

When one asks a question in the format, “Are you pretending that [obvious problem] isn’t an ethical problem?”, it makes me wonder if that person is really interested in understanding or is just interested in accusing someone else and pickin

Also see Quake 3 JS! http://www.quakejs.com/ I found no flaws. Just as fun as the original. And as a mac user, being able to play this after all those chip transitions is a blessing.

There is a cost to making features discoverable. The cost is visual complexity. Apple can present only one UI to every first time user. They need to make hard choices about what to keep and what to remove so that the most non-technical user

I think the fact that this post was downvoted speaks a lot. Sorry bud. I, too, am a fan and believe that not many do it the way Apple does.

Instead of assuming that the team gets only 70% of the fee, why not assume that they charge 100% of what they want, and then tack on the 30% that Apple is demanding? That way, the team is getting paid reasonably.

I agree with the other poster. It’s not relatable. No offence to the minorities. It feels like forced messaging to the rest of us. Why represent only minorities in race, ethnicity and sexuality? Why not represent people such as war widows,

I am sorry to hear that you have a need to see stories where the helper is also a beneficiary as being romanticised and not “real”. In my opinion, the acts being “self-serving” doesn’t stop them from being kind. Kindness is enlightened self
