Given that the racial categories used are American (White/Black/Asian/Latino) I'm guessing this is only or mostly American data. In which case it probably should say so. "Race" is a culturally mediated differen

No, I'm not making that distinction. I'm just saying that text editors and word processors have historically and up to this day been somewhat different beasts written for different audiences with different focuses on their feature

Well Emacs can almost but not quite be everything of course. But this is a pretty common distinction, surely? Words are text, but word processors have historically been focused on preparing documents for printing (or nowdays viewing a visua

I'm a big command line fan, but vi/emac/nano are not word processors. They're text editors. You might be able to get close if you are using them to edit Markdown and running it through Pandoc (especially if you add in a

Cool! It has Morphic with a snapshot of Squeak which is fair enough but it'd be nice to also include Self[1] which is where Morphic came from and which has I think a nicer implementation[2] of visual programming. [1]: http://

Much of the syntax is similar too: (2 + 4) == 5 ifTrue: [ Transcript show: 'Yay!' ] "Squeak" (2 + 4) == 5 ifTrue: [ 'Yay!' printLine ] "Self"

I enjoy eating more than I enjoy most other things I do, so saving time by not eating in order to spend more time doing other stuff doesn't really appeal... Oh well. I guess there must be people out there who spend all their time doing

What does "one space" even mean? Does it mean only one character's width? No, because that varies. Does it mean the same width as all other spaces? No, because as explained above typesetting systems often make the space longe

A currency which changes in value by around 40% in a 24 hour period is completely useless for the transactions I mostly deal with. We worry about a few percent change over weeks and insist on hedges. Imagine saying to someone - I'll put 10

There is lot of overlap in how the film industry and the tech industries work - and startups and indie films are a great analogy!

It doesn't matter if bitcoin is high or low against USD. All that matters is stability. It's supposed to be a currency not an investment.
