The JPAContainer and SQLContainer it provides makes this reasonably easy.

I should also say: putting together a new screen (form or otherwise) in Vaadin is extremely fast. It's the fastest I've ever been able to develop web-based UIs, simply because all I'm forced to think about is Java.

So far, so good. It's very different from your typical template-driven approach. We have a decent amount of Swing experience, and developing with Vaadin feels similar (but much easier) than Swing. If you are developing business-facing appli

As someone who recently came back to Java from a 5 year stint with Rails, I can safely say this is not true by any stretch of the imagination. If you stick to those tools in the Java ecosystem which meet your requirements, you can be incred

Please...someone put a Udacity course together which backs into the underlying math used to create this (for those of us who didn't have it or don't remember it)...

Same for me re: Unity. On Gnome 3, it was a 50/50 chance that the screensaver would be frozen when I returned to work the next morning. Sometimes dropping to a console and killing the screensaver process would work, but a lot of the time it

As much as it pains me to admit it, I'm now using Cinnamon as a desktop environment. I really, really wanted Unity to work, but I've had continued performance problems which make it ultimately unusable for me. I understand Ubuntu's need to

It appears to be this product: http://www.teampostgresql.com/product.jsp Not sure why OP simply pointed to the login screen (unless there's a demo user/passwd which was meant to be included).

Could you explain more about your setup? My own daughters love Minecraft and also want to learn to code...I'd be very interested in how you're accomplishing this. Thanks!

Not sure I agree with you here. The AGPL keeps the code completely open and free to use...the only thing it does is insure that you have to pay OpenERP for a commercial license if you want to keep any customizations or custom modules you'v

Your comments, if accurate, are definitely concerning. So how is Tryton different? Have you righted the wrongs that OpenERP has made? And if not, what do you recommend as an alternative to OpenERP?

1. I wouldn't need to hire an extra IT person. I already have very capable Linux admins. 2. Bad Windows sysadmins are less expensive than good Linux sysadmins. I agree with you there. Good Windows admins, however, are just as expensive. Tru

Agreed. We currently have to keep a Windows admin on staff (who actually costs a lot more than the CALs) just to manage our shares, Exchange, and file servers. It'd be nice to get these final pieces of the Windows puzzle out of our environm

Yes, I'm serious. The product isn't even released yet, and yet you're crapping all over it because you found a bug. I find that an unreasonable attitude. I am the CIO for a $300M company. We have two ERPs in-house, one of which is a very pr

We use Windows Server for three things: 1. Directory services/DC 2. Windows file shares 3. Exchange I have to buy user CALs for #1 and #2. One CAL gives me the right to connect that user to any of our file shares and to AD. IIRC, that cost

Why? I have such motivation, yet I have no intent on eliminating Windows from our desktops. That would be very disruptive to our 2.5K users, and Windows does a pretty decent job there. However, AD is very pricey due to CALs, and what it giv

It's not the cost of a few domain controllers...it's the $50-60/user cost of client access license (CALS). I have 2500 users...that's quite a pricey (approx. $62K) system for directory services. I personally am going to give Samba 4 a look.

I don't disagree...I've found the lack of GSM support on Verizon frustrating over the years. Unfortunately, Verizon effectively kills the competition for us in terms of coverage and price at a corporate level.

So if I'm on Verizon and I buy this, what speeds should I expect? I'd be ok with HSPA+ speeds (I find Verizon LTE to be extremely underwhelming), but as I understand it, Verizon doesn't do HSPA+. What will the Nexus 4 fall back to?
