I’m very excited by this. Always loved Elixir, but I have always had a hard time with code bases above a certain size when there’s no typing. This will make it my default choice the next time I need to build a web app or service.

You can disable iMessage altogether. Sure you can't uninstall it, but you can choose to simply not have it enabled on the phone: https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT203042 Basically no user would do this but it'

I honestly don't understand the argument. I'm not saying there isn't one - but it's not as though any other tech company is clamoring to allow unauthorized third party access to their services. Without a drastic overhaul

Agreed. First amendment protections should only apply to individuals anyway. Tesla doesn’t have a sane argument here since Tesla is not a person. (I recognize there’s a whole bag of worms around corporations and attempts to treat them lik

It's certainly related when you consider Pickup Trucks and the more "sporty" or "outdoorsy" SUV's. People that drive pickups, at least a substantial lot, do manual labor for a living. They're rough on thei

I've owned two and my parents have also owned two. There appears to be a boom and bust cycle of reliability with them. We still own one - a GLC300 from its first model year (2017) and it's basically been perfect. Zero problems bey

I like the idea, but the reliance on Node is a killer for me. I just don’t want anything to do with that.

AI/ML Engineers will be our modern day variant of the Mystic. They'll whisper sweet nothings into the ears of their models, looking at the goat entrails of what their models output and tell us of their predictions. It's going

I agree. The article reads like satire. I can’t tell if he’s making fun of the hoops you have to jump through to make a “modern web app”.

This is limited to the Mac App Store. I’ve seen the same on the iOS and iPadOS app stores. Either way, sketchy devs are capitalizing on the “gold rush” of generative AI.

So I read the linked document twice and I am failing to see how the content matches title. Granted I don't spend much time looking at these documents, but am I missing something?

Played with it a bit. As others have noted - Copilot definitely has a leg up and isn't all that expensive. Copilot supports more languages, it seems to do better with prompting based on comments IME. I'm sure Amazon's offerin

Honestly - if you like UIKit and Swift then build in that. Better to make progress and exercise the idea than hem and haw about the perfect tool.

Apple’s style reminds me a lot of something I once read (and later experienced) about Japan and tourism: > (roughly) Japan is a country for the Japanese. While they may welcome you and invite you to experience their country and culture,

Look for pointless work being done in the org and advocate for moving teams to working on what actually needs to get done. It sounds weird but you’d be surprised how often teams have lost any good reason to be doing what they’re doing at a

People comparing Twitter and Mastodon as though they’re equivalent. They’re not - Mastodon has Twitter-like properties but the core “network” model (centralized vs federated) of the two makes them distinct beasts. That’s not people’s fault
