Why are people flagging this? Genuinely curious. I don't agree with every point but I think it's a valid comment.

I love Cold Turkey! The only issues I’ve had with it are when I find little back doors around the blocks and don’t know how to block those. But those are very few and far between.

I don’t know about io_uring, but for BPF programs only the kernel space needs to be licensed as GPLv2. Everything on the user space side is handled with system calls or higher level libraries that aren’t GPL licensed (libbpf).

That’s actually in our Declaration of Independence from the British Empire. I don’t recall the constitution including it as well (although most Americans consider it a given because it was in the DOI). Originally Jefferson wrote, “the pursu

You could probably argue that the US children were also sacrificed to gods... they just happened to be represented by money rather than some metaphysical beliefs.

Holy hell, I dislike certain politicians as much as the next guy, but punishing people at work for making donations is absolutely ludicrous. Do you have a link to where you got this data?

I hit a wall, then hit the ground, then got up but now I seem to be hobbling along fine enough with my attempt to use Doom. It’s just that there’s no simple intro to the emacs paradigm so I find myself almost constantly confused when someth

If you want people to use it at the kernel level (with libbpf and C programming), better documentation. XDP has a fantastic tutorial[0], but everything else can be quite difficult to get into (this is from personal experience). I've be

In modern parlance I believe the desire is to move away from the acronym and have BPF just be a standalone name since its functionality goes beyond a packet filter now.

I was not involved in tech growing up. In high school I was more interested in sports (XC/track, wanted to run in college) and science. I did my undergrad in neuroscience with the intent of going to grad school and getting into researc

Sorry to be nit picky, I get your greater point, but why do you say she’s “ill.” Seems like a precarious assumption and I’d assume that if this is verified by a psychologist they wouldn’t be announcing it to the world. Sometimes being angry

I’m surprised no one has chimed in with their own experience yet. I was in one of these programs (well, a moderate version of one, I didn’t skip grades or go to college young) and I remember being told all the time that we were the future l

I don’t know if that effect is intentional, but I do believe it is an effect felt by everyone, not just “G&T”. Distraction from real life.

I had the same experience with this book. I set out as an intermediate C programmer and ended up just bored to tears with things I felt were obvious and frustrated that questions about “real” C code were not being answered. Also the exercis

I used a fancy chair for a bit and got neck pain. Switched to a normal wooden chair, sometimes with a pillow to sit on, and I’m doing great now. Weird but works for me I guess. I do stand quite a bit too.

I get some insane neck pain with these. Found I work better altering between standing and using a normal wooden chair. Not amazing sounding but it works for me.
