Yes, this is a major con! Luckily my job involves a lot of R&D for the government, so UX and customer adoption isn't as important, though it still is important. Like other commenters have said, you need a balance. A workplace whe

I started doing /r/flipping as a side hustle. It works, but it scales with how much time you're willing to spend on it. But that's also a benefit of it-- no hours, no deadlines, nobody to answer to. And failure is painle

I work in a place where my boss is an engineer, his boss is an engineer, and his boss is an engineer. I've found this feeling is helped a lot by your superiors actually understanding what you are doing and why. I'm still a pawn, b

I greatly prefer The Power of Now over his other books. IMO he does not practice what he preaches as much as he used to, and that influences his writing in small ways. Just my unenlightened opinion, though.

Okay Mr. Pedant. Actually Dai isn't backed by either one. It's backed by an ERC-20 token called Pooled Ether.

Not really. It's just a way of measuring value more removed from any one nation's currency. You take the price, in DAI, of a bunch of historically stable priced goods. Bread, tires, shoes, etc. Measure the averaged normalized vari

To your first point, the vision is to use other Ethereum tokens tied to various assets and securities. How those asset-backed tokens are set up and how trustworthy they are depends on the individual token. I know there are a few asset-backe

No, it's part of the protocol. When a collateralized position falls below the 150% (or whatever) mark, that position gets automatically liquidated and auctioned off to pay for the debt. And the positions are set up to where you can bor

No, you may be thinking of something else. DAI is backed by Ethereum held in a smart contract. It's not collateralized by fiat currencies right now.

I agree. But eventually they plan to allow for many forms of collateral, and peg the price to a basket of goods. If convenience were the same, I would rather hold an overcollateralized currency with stocks, bonds, gold, ETH, etc. underneath

Well yeah, if all underlying reserves lose value, the stablecoins are going to tank as well. And yes, holding all reserves in one form of value is not good. But the eventual idea is to hold reserves (allow people to borrow using collateral)

Eventually they plan to move to a version that is tied to some CPI (basket of goods) rather than one currency. DAI is really borrowed against collateral (right now it's Ethereum, but there are plans for muliple forms of collateral), an

I don't understand why there isn't more hype around the DAI stablecoin. It's an ERC-20 token that is pegged to USD through known collateral and economic incentives in a smart contract. It doesn't have any of the problems

You could have a "super-vote" that readers could apply to other peoples' posts. It wouldn't boost visibility of the post, but it would reward the poster in some way. Some ideas for rewards of being super-voted: * Show
