But are people happier and more fulfilled? Are they more able to have a meaning-filled life surrounded by people with whom they have close and lasting relationships? What should we be measuring when we measure improvement?

The big changes, I think, are smartphones and widespread LGBT acceptance. Everything else just seems like incremental improvements to existing technology.

So it's strange that I already don't use emojis? Sometimes I will write "haha" or ":)" in chats, and that's about it. That was all I needed when I was in my 20s, and I see no need to change that in my 30s.

GPS signals from the satellites are extremely weak, and actually are below the noise floor. GPS uses processing gain tricks in order to see the signals at all. This means that a terrestrial based transmitter doesn't have to put out a t

If that was even remotely true, we would still be sitting in caves sharing raw animal scraps. Fortunately it's not true, and things like discovering fire and inventing tools don't take resources away from others, but instead incre

I really like this mindset. It's compassionate toward your co-workers and would make your entire team more effective. And best of all it's accepting reality and would make you happier too. Thanks for this.

As a non-math person, I've thought a lot about quaternions and why they need 4 dimensions, and why there aren't 3d complex numbers. It's because if you think about it, on the complex plane, the imaginary number i just represe

I have something close to this with my 2015 Nissan Leaf S. No internet connectivity at all. It's also extremely cheap. I paid ~$13k for it in 2018 with ~25k miles. The range is kind of bad compared to most other electric cars though.
