Yeah my current approach for programmatic Anki notes is genanki + using a stable ID as the first field of cards to allow for updates. Great point about ephemeral sentences -- something for me to think about creating an auto-suspension add-o

Do you have any tips? I haven't really approached this category because it feels like a lost cause.

in the survey you linked to, "Social media is the biggest driver of poor mental health, teenagers said in the survey." they're saying it themselves.

did cookie banners exist without the law? largely not, which is why people perceive it to be a "cookie banner law" no matter what is technically written in it.

I don't know if I'd go this far. If a company reports earnings far below what they previously gave guidance on, the stock pretty reliably falls.

yeah i guess i disagree with the approach. what we need is for people to consider any information they take in skeptically -- if we censor 'bad' stuff, we're just training people to rely even more on the responses because the

you don't have to. I lived in south bay with $30-40k in total annual expenses for years. that said, i was single and made sacrifices to save.

that's the thing though. you're not getting paid "slightly below market," you're taking a ~50% paycut to work at a startup vs FAANG

I like this idea, but time spent commuting will never truly be paid. Because if you were working from home, you could still start later / end earlier and get the same amount of work done in less time.

I think Anki zealots that pitch the software as the solution to everything can be both tiring and misleading. But I also think that memorization, using whatever system, is going to be a part of any kind of learning. As you mention, in some

I think Anki does a pretty big disservice to itself by preaching the 'you must do all your reviews every day.' Even the concept of "amount of reviews to do" is IMO not the right way to think about things -- realistically

I've heard this same thing said about Workday. Great for HR, terrible for everyone else. it's wild to me that my company uses it and doesn't find it insane that they need a multi-step "how to" doc on how to find you

i don't think that's an argument the article is putting forth though. its whole point is that nobody is going to see / care about your stuff regardless of polish, so you wouldn't be getting any feedback either way.
