We really don't think there's a better customer-facing product out there for other startups like ourselves. It's feedback, support tickets and FAQs all in one package. We've been building this over the last 9 months and I'm super excited to

A bit of both actually. There was only one truly bad hire. The rest was a result of good people being put in positions that weren't optimal for their skillset. We do think it's one of the better way to deploy the product because one of the

There will always be exceptions to any rule and GiffGaff seems like quite the exceptional case (They’re even paying customers to do support. This is really cool). Here’s a checklist for whether your company is an exception to this rule: - D

We allow anonymous voting but not anonymous commenting. We'll be moving to a more blog style commenting system (name+email) in the near future that won't require an actual login.

The best performing site we ever had (uservoice) was for StackOverflow and they just had a red text at the top of the page that said something to the effect of "Help us build the site" and linked to their uservoice forum. We also have a lot

Too true. It's the commitment to the process from people that can actually effect change that's often times the hard part.

Known bug related to domain aliasing (session cookie set on one domain and not the other). Sorry about that, we're working to get that fixed.

Cool but I don't know if it's a net positive. I'd be concerned that by making it so easy for users to respond that actual discussion will be stifled because you won't be forced to actually scroll past all the comments to post something. Rea

We use the same internet but other than that no :) We're more focused specifically on dialogue between company and customers (or employees) whereas SlinkSet is more generic and has more tools for aggregating 3rd party content instead of use

We do need to do a better job of banding together on both HN and in real life. One of these days I'd like to actually put together a UI meetup. One day....

It seems like your saying it takes you longer to do it in HTML/CSS than in Fireworks. They're saying that for them, like myself, that's not the case and thus you should skip the extra step or learn to do mockup html/css faster that you can

We (I run SlimTimer) went with a NYOP plan primarily because of we lack an obvious usage vector (ex: Projects) to limit and because it's hard to put a price on something after you've given it away for over a year. A couple other implementat

Same here. I guess it should be no surprise since the most surprising thing I've noticed since I've moved out here is how little devs and designers interact. It saddens me to no end (though it does help keep me a scarce resource).

Can you expound on what's you find horrible about the points and the arrows. My understanding, and I've been helping the Reddit guys with the redesign, is that people we're getting the idea that the arrows were for moderation and so it made

I have some of the same alignment issues especially when a entry has a long title. I mocked up what it would look like if everything for an entry was vertically centered: http://skitch.com/rrwhite/cm3m/reddit-centered-mod I'm not sure yet

Yeah it is essentially the same technique that all those JS rounding libraries use. The nice thing about the libraries is that you don't have to see all those extra horseshit DOM elements you need to make this work. Either way you're going

I'm sure it's an eye-opener just as browsing with Netscape 4 would be, but I don't think it really means anything. I gave up on caring about what a site does without JS a long time ago. It's not worth my time to do it just like it's not wor
