My brother and his wife both are doctors in the UK. At 400k you earn about the same pay as 3 or 4 doctors there. https://www.bmj.com/careers/article/the-complete-guide-to-nh... . To me that is a lot of money. I rea

I think people change though. I've been online so long I know not to take downvotes personally. I can now recognize sometimes I'm wrong, sometimes I'm not clear, sometimes I'm in an echo chamber.

I dont understand this either. Yes teenagers are tired in the morning and hard to get out of bed. My daughter and her friends go to bed at midnight, 1am, often later.

Doctors and Surgeons in America are incredibly highly paid. People love hating insurance and drug companies but the cost of people is driving much of the price.

Thanks for taking the time to reply on this. Like I said I'm relatively new here and dont really have a good feel of the different university cultures. I see lots of other families put a lot of pressure on kids and do extra-curriculars

Its fascinating as its not clear between rural African and European urban children, who is healthier. Stereotypically Africans are probably closer to nature, less stress and fewer processed foods, where Europeans have more medicines, variet

I moved to this country, one of the reasons was great education system. Now I'm here it seems really confusing and overwhelming. Lots of tiger moms pressing overworked kids to get into Ivy league, and so much wokeness. The problem bein

Does anyone know of probiotics with a variety of bacteria? Currently they (and yoghurts) seem to be just a single type, which doesn't make a lot of sense to me. If there are unusual bacteria out there where do they come from and how ca

I feel there should more efficient to use solar heat into evaporating the ocean to make clouds and more rain. Anyone aware of this? I'm thinking windmills that pump water to create mist or floating black panels that absorb IR and heat

This view is also wrong as inflation is running higher than interest rates so discounting future cashflows at negative real rates should be a win.

Anyone know of a reason why they dont use air? or even Nitrogen. EDIT I guess compressing to liquid, CO2 can be stable at <31 deg C at 5ATMs which is what they use. Liquid Nitrogen has to be kept very cold, even under pressure.

I like that but its the testing that makes it hard. Being able to use ORM then mock yourdatabase with sqlite or similar is very useful. You can use testcontainers but not in my firm.

I really dont want a phone number any more, I dont need one for any friends of family contact. Really the only reason is for 2fa which is ironic as it seems the weakest link.
