I'm not sure what we're arguing about here. I dont live in CA, I said I was jealous of Prop 13. I think there are benefits to capping property tax rises. Only a quarter of households rent and I support any measure to help everyone

The difference with property is that its not a consumable. In an ideal world you pay off your mortgage then you dont have to worry about housing costs much, allowing you to budget on real expenses for things you consume. If you buy a house

Maybe if social science was real science instead of quackery people would want to help.

I get, maybe somewhere between. I see your nj username, you probably know what its like for people once retired paying $20k for property taxes, its a big temptation to leave.

I'm pretty jealous of prop 13, ever increasing property taxes is brutal.

I understand your view but its more than this. China is biggest polluter now. Russia has most space but avoids immigration from Asia. Fast growing populations of lots of hot countries is a big problem that has no easy solution.

RTO issues aside it feels more like a regular recession rather than bubble popping. The biggest difference is wages were insane last year, even in 2000 devs weren't paid more than doctors.

I wonder how long it'll be before population starts moving. Traditionally Southern Europe, Southern USA had the best climate, now they seem to be places to avoid.

One goal of e-CNY is to be an alternative to USD payment systems like SWIFT which the Western governments hve used to enforced sanctions. China has a problem with the regular currency has a lot of restrictions on it. People can't just

I dont think that has anything to do with oil. Kinda similar though, should the USA help democratic small countries from authoritarian bullies next door? Maybe USA should just let the world burn like the Europeans do.

There are a lot of gas power stations in the UK. I suspect that gas prices are so high its uneconomic to run them, and gas is sent to Europe instead (or not imported like previously).

Most Oil from the Middle East goes to Asia and Europe, US produces enough energy itself. Yes US tries to stabilize the region, I think Asia and Europe gives not enough thanks.

48% of its electricity this summer I'd believe, the whole year is unlikely. The crunch is winter when there is near-zero sunlight. Solar Panels in Northern Europe is waste of money.
