Maybe I should try a Thinkpad but otherwise the Macbook trackpad is the only one that really works for me and doesn't feel awkward. The gestures are right and the feel is right. I agree about size. It could be smaller.

I think it's pretty crazy how slow a lot of the newer things in Windows 11 are. Explorer is super slow, Settings are slow. Sometimes I think even if I wanted to make things that slow (without using sleep statements), I wouldn't kn

I work at a medical device company and I have heard that the people at the FDA we used to deal with are gone. the whole department. This is just nuts. I am totally in support of looking into efficiencies but the way they are going about it

This is just insane. Totally destructive. Checks and balances are gone.

I think the main criticism of DOGE is that there seems no deliberation at all. They cut whatever Musk and friends don't personally like or what they don't understand after 10 minutes looking at it. Such an effort should be a long

Even if they were communists or had communist sympathies, who cares? I am pretty sure Oppenheimer did way more for the country than McCarthy. We should persecute/prosecute for illegal things they do, not for their political leanings.

When I did my only two Ayahuasca sessions and closed my eyes I saw some kind jungle scene with the eyes of a big cat looking at me. It was really interesting. With mushrooms I usually see abstract patterns. I never have mach hallucinations

It's basically the same situation as the .COM bubble. Some companies used the internet to an advantage and thrived. Others slapped ".COM" on everything but didn't really understand what they are doing.

We are building a new aristocracy where people are better than others just by virtue of being born into the right family. And if we don't limit the ability to inherit this process will just accelerate.

Musk really seems to have lost his mind and any kind of filter. He hears about something and tweets it without any thought. Pretty much the same approach he is using with DOGE. Look at something for five minutes max and if you don’t like i

"Also that simplicity is king. Complexity is the enemy." That's what worries me about a lot of the shiny, super high tech, super expensive weapons systems of the US. These are fine against an overmatched enemy when you can fl

"There is also more upward mobility in gig work as you can optimize over time to earn more, which isn’t possible in some jobs." I think there is zero upwards mobility. Gig workers will always be a commodity at the bottom of the hi

I would dispute your points 2 and 4. But yes, the trend towards apps is not very good. I am not sure if the apps are cheaper or just makes people think they are doing something modern and better. One thing is for sure, most apps based devic

You can go to the surface when something goes wrong with the submarine. You can make oxygen from water. In general, you have plenty of water. You can be rescued. On Mars, when even the slightest thing goes wrong, you are done.

Going through BS patents would be a nice job for Musk’s DOGE. That would do more good than firing people and two days later noticing that this people actually were important.

“ We send people under the ocean for years at a time to live on nuclear submarines in arguable more dangerous and isolated circumstance” Mars is by orders of magnitude worse than living on a submarine.

I definitely prefer spending the money on fusion over rushing a Mars mission. Fusion is probably cheaper than Mars and will actually benefit humanity. Which is not something I can say about going to Mars (or even the moon).
