“ because if you don't have health insurance you probably can't pay 5x what the insurance companies pay, so will be bankrupted anyways” Or it could go the other way depending on arbitrary factors. Nobody knows.

Single payer or not but I think everybody should agree that dealing with health insurance needs to be easier and more predictable. When I read the stories of how people won against them, it's always mind boggling to see the giant effor

Medina is special. It’s hard to understand that this guy hasn’t been fired already. Instead they just gave him a 100k SUV. It always amazes how low the standards for police are in the US and the things they get away with.

The new menu would actually be quite ok if you could configure what’s on the main menu and what’s on “More”. The old menu has a ton of stuff I never use so in theory it would be nice to push that to a secondary menu. But the UX geniuses hav

This is starting to be silly. What's next? - "Google Docs" allowed me to write death threat letters. - My Brother printer allowed to print them. - The postal service delivered them - My Sony camera allowed me to take nude pic

Has anything good ever come from the Chamber of Commerce? They did whatever they could do kill Obamacare, they are constantly against environmental regulation and now this. Such a terrible organization.

I spent some time in East Germany when the wall was still up and often think that a corporation is run like a communist planned economy. 5 year plans, lots of internal propaganda, rewards for following the plan, no tolerance for dissent, di

I think the key is to have leaders that have passion for the product and aren’t just interested in making profits and increasing stock price. When you look at people like Gates, Jobs, Musk, Huang, they are cutthroat businessmen but they als

The whole system is corrupt and overpriced. Hospitals, insurers, PBM and many others make a lot of profit by ripping off patients.

We also spend around way more per capita on health care than any other country. I bet both health care and defense expenditures could be reduced significantly if they were run with at least a little efficiency and less profit making by midd

Totally agree. You don’t even need two years. A few weeks is enough. I remember the Biden situation as him holding on for as long as he could and then basically being pushed out. But when you read a lot of NYT commenters you start to believ

I think in general we are losing a lot of functionality especially since the phone UIs are slowly creeping into the desktop. Discoverability and consistency are simply horrible compared to how things worked around 2000. I think it's a

We need to do basic science even if there is no direct benefit visible at the time. There were times when electricity was just a party trick, there was no practical use for electrons or relativity for a while. It may take decades or longer
