DAE think the Apple form-over-function worshipping here is a bit excessive? Scary, even?

Even if they sign it, I wouldn't expect most sellers there to honor it. When I last looked at flippa many of the sites were obvious clones of each other. 1. Build a template of a simple site 2. Create 10000 instances of it & SEO them on

It's partly a selfish, rational decision. In the borked world of corporate politics, firing someone on your team can reflect badly on you, or reduce your personal power (the size of your bonus pool is often related to headcount). Do you wan

Disagree with the first part. If you're a great manager, in general, you can and should try to work with high-end developers. Why waste your life trying to make gold from lead?

So many managers are too stupid/lazy to value devs based on their output, and instead do so based on what other managers are willing to pay? Excellent.

But older people have more commitments, more balanced lives, a higher price tag, and often less energy. Early/mid 20s male fanatics are the workhorses of the engineering world and surely the best bet from an investment POV. They will break

Have you really tried a recent Android device? Many highly technical people (ok, programmers/nerds) prefer it after they dig into it vs an iPhone. Notifications, Google Nav, 3D + Vectorized Google Maps, Chrome-to-Phone, a real filesystem wi

I spent 6 months reading every book I could find on self-esteem, depression, etc. The Amazon Top 50 and then some. It was porn: I liked the idea of self-improvement, but lacked the motivation to do it, and after a while, reading the books j

The fix depends on the cause. Did you burn out due to an oppressive/insatiable boss, or due to pressure you placed on yourself? The first is largely correctable by a better working environment. The second, unfortunately, requires deep intro

There's a significant risk of burnout/major depression for those who stay single to work like hell through their 20s/30s. Significant others are risk reduction: they may impede a major positive outcome, but they can also prevent a very nega

There are errata, and then there are errata. No doubt there are some really nasty workarounds in the BIOS, but over the past 10 years Intel has been very good at preventing customer-visible defects at the OS kernel level and above.

Criminals are smart enough to remove the battery, or not carry a cell phone during a major crime. So this mostly just enables the government and telecom companies to track law-abiding citizens.

Sadly you don't need a fuzzer to crash adobe flash (at least on x86_64 linux). A few hours browsing top-25 websites normally does the trick. There is a big reason Chrome sandboxes plugins, and its named "Adobe".
