If it's multiplayer, you could use Node along with something like socket.io to handle real time communication between players. You could maybe, possibly, use WebRTC for peer-to-peer communication if you don't mind excluding anyone

I've seen a lot of people using Phaser as the game engine, and socket.io or ws running on Node to communicate between players.

React wasn't the first. :) Some of us were out in the wilderness building GWT components back in 2009/2010. And although compiling to JS was a pretty weird option at the time, it mostly worked. Your app looked terrible if you just

I think that's exactly the kind of workflow we should be able to create a graphical interface for. I sometimes wonder if our ability to imagine what visual interfaces can do is limited by our experience with current GUIs. Right now,

Was there more to his quote than what you wrote above? I've seen both shows, and it seems to me like he's saying this election was more about rural/middle America that it was about urban/coastal America, just based on th

Yeah, I mentioned in another comment that a typical dev salary here is significantly higher than the average family income. You're spot on w.r.t. most living expenses, too. I've got a big apartment in a part of Toronto that I re

That's definitely true. And don't get me wrong, salaries aren't terrible, all things considered. If you're a dev with a few years experience here, you're likely making significantly more money on your own that they

As it stands now, I doubt that many American programmers would be willing to take the pay cut they'd have to accept if they came to work here. I like it here, and I'm happy with what I make, but when you factor in the exchange rat

I know we've made lots of progress in the past 30+ years, and we can do plenty of wonderful things now. But sometimes, when I see what was possible with so few resources, and then press shift-esc in Chrome and notice my Facbook tab usi

It helps to take a step back and see that the JS ecosystem is a bit crazy right now, but it is quickly becoming more sane and more mature. For a long time, the tooling available for building complex JavaScript applications was limited. Unle

Clearly, it means you write database logic using C++ extended stored procedures [1], business logic in C++ middleware using something like CppCMS [2], and then write all your front end code in C++ and deploy it to the browser using Emscript

For what it's worth, I've found the documentation to be quite good, and easy to follow. Thanks for all of your hard work. Having said that, I agree it would be good to hear more from people who dislike the current documentation. S

Just a quick question to make sure I understand properly: do you mean you tried to install an application while running the ElementaryOS live USB? If so, perhaps that's why it failed? Depending on how the live boot OS is set up, instal

I like the potential for code sharing between web and mobile. In the past, I've done this with React and React Native. Angular 2 (Typescript) can easily accomplish the same thing using NativeScript. I could see sharing quite a bit of c

That makes me think more highly of the conference organizers. It's a small indicator, at least, that they've got a decent amount of awareness of when using Angular is a good idea, and when it would be overkill.
