Definitely a better fit for idiots like me. BTW that is a compliment. It is very hard to make something complicated easy to understand. You succeeded.

Probably easiest to talk about the NER for search keywords. I have found 1000-2000 examples per label is enough to get >80% accuracy. I don't remember the exact before/after adding pre-trained word vectors, but it was a 2-3% im

I train NER and text classification models using Spacy. You can give Spacy word vectors and the accuracy usually increases 1-5% in my experience. I use NER to classify entities within search keywords, text classification for determining if

I'm going to offer a contrarian contrarian viewpoint. I certainly agree that engineers should not be shut out of the process, by default. There are some engineers who are good at UI design, like you and me, and their deep technical kno

As others have said, sleep deprivation is the norm in certain fields like healthcare. There are also jobs where you work 40 hours but the schedules are so random that they can also screw with your sleep such as retail. And a lot of top perf

I believe GitHub uses ES, and currently allowing users to perform regex can bog down the entire cluster if the regex is malformed. This is a problem with Solr too. I believe there was some effort to resolve this at the Lucene level, but I a

This is awesome! I think the hand tool needs some work though. To me, it should be used to move specific shapes or text around rather than scroll the entire whiteboard. Also some way to select multiple objects and move them around would be

Good idea. I would take it one step further. I would use a ML-based language detection tool which should return a list of languages and a confidence score. Whichever language has the highest confidence score wins. The FastText project has a

I have definitely run into memory bugs in managed languages that someone without my experience would have no clue how to debug since the managed language hides that information. Having said that, learning to be "careful" is much m

There is still a good reason to teach C and assembly even if they end up never using it in the real-world. Just having to manually manage memory teaches one how to be careful because the result is a hard-to-debug segmentation fault if one i

Honestly, I bet 6.x doesn't work well at PB scale. There may be different problems with different solutions, but I bet it would still need custom shard balancing, etc. I work at TB scale and 6.x largely works well with the exception of

I find presenting your experience can help a lot at local dev meetups and conferences. If you can find a venue for pitching your product, then great! But most of the time, people don't want to hear a product pitch. Instead, present ide

I definitely agree you should add more documentation to how the word vector model(s) is generated. Also you may want to have a set of models that the user can choose from. For example, Wikipedia is good for a general language use case. But

Yes, maybe med schools should also do physical tests as part of an entrance exam for surgeons. That would likely solve the problem, and it would also signal to kids interested in becoming surgeons to get good at hand/eye coordination,

That's like saying a pro soccer team should just teach you how to play. Surgeons need pro-sport level dexterity and it is extremely difficult, if not impossible, to achieve that if you start training in your 20s.
